SMOKING
Smoking is discouraged because of its health implications.
If residents choose to smoke, smoking is permitted only on the porch of the dorm or
around the fire pit. If residents are observed smoking outside of the smoking area or
inside any building at any time, this non-compliance will result in a verbal warning, a
written behavioral contract or immediate therapeutic discharge. (involuntary discharge)
Non-compliance with the written behavioral contract may result in a therapeutic
discharge.
At all times, please refrain from relating “war stories” of your addiction past. Your
primary goal is to focus on recovery.
Please do not throw cigarette butts on the ground. Place them in the proper containers
located in smoking areas.
VISITATION
1. Visitors are not permitted in the resident’s bedrooms and residents are not
permitted in their visitor’s bedroom.
2. Visitation is Saturday & Sunday and ends at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. Adults and
children are permitted. Exceptions to visitation dates must be approved by your
Primary Counselor prior to the visit. All visitors must be preapproved by the
Primary Counselor.
3. Visitors must be free of drugs and/or alcohol. No one can visit who has a
restraining order against a resident or from whom a resident has a restraining
order.
4. All visitors must register immediately in the Mansion upon arrival.
5. Any visitor suspected of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol, or
suspected of bringing contraband on the grounds will be asked to leave the
premises and proper legal action will be taken. Visitors will be asked to leave if
they are disrupting the community in any manner.
6. The smoking area is for visitors and residents.
7. Visitors are not to be in the dorm, rec room, or gym after midnight.
Any violation of these rules and standards will result in visitors being asked to leave the
premises and further visitation privileges will be denied. We encourage residents to use
visiting time to help re-establish relationships that have been damaged by addiction. It is
critical that the resident’s significant other learn about the disease of addiction and its
consequences. Families also need to gain knowledge and understanding of how to
become a sober support and how to help restore harmony and balance in families’ lives.
Family sessions are available by appointment with the Primary Counselor.
