It was a chilly morning, but not cold enough to keep<br />
Montgomery County Astros fans away from seeing a few of<br />
the 2014 players up close and personal.<br />
On January 22, 2014, the Astros Caravan made a stop at<br />
the Greater Conroe/Lake Conroe Area Chamber of Commerce<br />
for a special flag raising ceremony. Mike Elias, the Director<br />
of Amateur Scouting for the Astros Organization, spoke to<br />
the crowd of what the organziation is doing to improve their<br />
line up. "It's always very encouraging to hear fans that are<br />
following what we're doing as an organization," commented<br />
Elias. Both Robert Ford, Radio Broadcaster for the Astros,<br />
and Elias spoke of the direction the team is headed for 2014.<br />
"We're excited to see the Astros grow and improve with the<br />
new talent that's coming up through the local farm teams<br />
now. We've got great prospects for this next season and<br />
going forward," stated Elias. "That's the whole purpose of our<br />
tour, is to get people excited again about Houston Baseball."<br />
Mayor Pro Tem Guy Martin welcomed the crowd with<br />
excitement as a long Time Colt 45/Astros fan, and with<br />
anticipation for this next season.<br />
The Astros flag was raised by Martin and Chamber<br />
President, Scott Harper. Martin closed with "We're Conroe.<br />
We're 40 miles North [of Houston]. The Astros is our team."<br />
