JONATHAN PALMER ON 20 YEARS OF PALMERSPORT
I began PalmerSport back in 1991 when I retired from driving after six years racing in F1.
Building the business fitted in well with my role as co-commentator with Murray Walker on
the BBC Grand Prix TV programme.
From the outset my objective was to provide the best corporate hospitality motorsport
driving event in the world. Key to achieving this was to give our guests unprecedented
levels of not just freedom but encouragement to push some fabulous high performance
cars harder than they ever dreamed.
Twenty years on and PalmerSport has come a long way. It earned the undisputed
reputation of being the best corporate motorsport event long ago and ever since I have
been paranoid about not just maintaining but extending our position as market leader.
We made a big step forward twelve years ago with the opening of our own Bedford
Autodrome circuit complex. I designed it to be the perfect venue for corporate motorsport
events with four separate circuits that could be run concurrently, each with huge run off
areas for safety.
Our philosophy of coaching guests to go faster than they ever dreamed, striving to
improve lap times in every machine, is more powerful than ever. And so are our cars! The
performance of our fleet has escalated hugely over the years, partly with the introduction of
amazing hot rods like the 420bhp V8 BMW M3, but also because much of our line up is now
full-on motorsport machinery, like the new Palmer Jaguar JP-LM.
Impressively, our guests have proved very capable of extracting all this increasing
performance. And when experienced amidst an environment of outstanding quality,
PalmerSport has proved a compelling invitation, whether to corporate guests or
private individuals.
From the critiques all our guests complete at the end of their day, we know that in 2010 over
99% wrote they were “very keen” to come back to PalmerSport again. And that unrivalled
fact is a consequence of our continual drive to make PalmerSport better every year.
Jonathan Palmer
Chief Executive, MotorSport Vision
PALMERSPORT 2011
– WHAT’S NEW?
The stunning headline upgrade to PalmerSport 2011 is the
introduction of the brilliant new Palmer Jaguar JP-LM sports
prototype, as featured on the front cover. Our previous Palmer
Jaguar JP1 open two seater was often rated the best car at
PalmerSport and, like any successful manufacturer, we have
built on its strengths and addressed its weaknesses. Of course
it’s faster, but it is also much more spacious in the cockpit to
accommodate all sizes of driver more comfortably.
But we’ve not stopped there. Jonathan Palmer personally tests
and evaluates each vehicle type we have and every one has
benefitted from detail upgrades he has specified for 2011, to make
the cars perform better, nicer to drive, or both.
The Porsche 911 JP3 has undergone some big changes.
Performance is now much sharper from shorter gear ratios,
providing better acceleration. Brakes have been upgraded as has
the whole cabin and a sparkling new livery celebrates the changes.
The Clio Cup race cars have revised spring rates to improve grip
and ride, while the BMW M3s have stiffer springs to make direction
changes even sharper. Similar spring upgrades have been applied
to the Caterham 7s, which also feature lighter steering and better
braking, as well as onboard cameras now. Jonathan Palmer is
fastidious on detail – on the Formula Jaguar single seaters the
onboard camera has even been made more compact to improve
forward vision and cockpit leg padding improved to aid comfort.
For the first time in 10 years our karting activity has been
transformed for 2011 following the introduction of a fleet of brand
new 390cc Sodi GT5 karts, which are faster, better handling and
most importantly lighter to steer than those before.
07
Finally recognising guests’ eagerness for communication, all our
hospitality suites have now been equipped with wi-fi internet
access for the first time.
LE MANS
FANTASY
PALMER JAGUAR JP-LM

10
11
PALMER JAGUAR JP-LM
Our stunning new racing car for PalmerSport 2011 is
the Palmer Jaguar JP-LM, bringing the sensation of
Le Mans to the finger tips of all our PalmerSport guests.
The JP-LM is as focussed as any machine can be and
provides the most sublime driving experience – with an
instructor right alongside to help you extract every last bit
of performance from you and the machine.
Our previous Palmer Jaguar JP1 proved one of the most
popular cars of PalmerSport and the JP-LM takes the
concept of a two seater mid engined sports prototype
to a new level. It’s faster in a straight line, thanks to
squeezing more power out of the Jaguar Cosworth
3 litre quad cam V6 engine, and has revised gear ratios to
really make the engine sing. It truly is the sound of music.
As any F1 follower knows, aerodynamics are crucial –
you want more downforce to press those big tyres into
the asphalt and less drag to reduce wind resistance
and let the machine slice through the air more easily.
The fabulously evocative new body shape not only
looks good but does the aerodynamic business.
With suspension changes also incorporated, the
JP-LM has more grip on the corners yet lighter
steering to help you exploit it, plus bigger brake
ducts to help the car cool - when you’re getting hot!
You might not be running for 24 hours, but with all
this extra power, grip and more effective braking,
it’s still important to make life as comfortable
as possible for our drivers, which is why we’ve
completely redesigned the cockpit to provide more
room for taller and wider guests, as well as moving
the steering wheel further away, along with new
instruments, an improved seat design, new mirrors,
better visibility… the list is endless.
If you have ever been to a PalmerSport day before,
you’ll have some idea of what the JP-LM is capable
of. It’s the next best thing to jumping into a LMP
prototype and heading off around the famous Sarthe
circuit at Le Mans.

13
BAVARIAN
BEAST
BMW M3 GTP

14
15
BMW M3 GTP
It is no exaggeration to say we have been overwhelmed
by the response to our M3 GTPs, introduced for the
first time in 2010. With their 420bhp V8 motors hitting
8500rpm between every flick of the paddle-shift
gearbox, they have added yet another brilliant dimension
to the PalmerSport experience.
In fact BMW’s latest M3 may well represent an all
time peak in the phenomenal power and performance
extracted by the world’s best car manufacturers for use
on the road. With environmental pressure growing it
is hard to see how such outrageous performance can
ever be surpassed for use on our increasingly restricted
public roads – but we’ll savour it while we can!
Even in standard form the M3 is an awesome machine, but
at PalmerSport that was just our starting point. Our BMW
M3 GTPs have been stripped of their interior luxuries
and equipped with uprated brakes and lowered, stiffened
suspension to provide phenomenal on-track performance.
The 4 litre V8 engine is also the most powerful available
at PalmerSport. This is a race-bred powerplant, tuned by
BMW’s Motorsports division and capable of howling and
screaming its way to 8500 rpm, a speed most engines
cannot even reach, yet at which the M3 is never happier.
Coupled to a brilliant seven-speed paddle shift gearbox
that swaps cogs faster than you can blink and deployed
through its race-prepared chassis, the M3 GTP
takes the supercar art to a new level. And when it’s
unleashed on our ultra-fast South circuit the result
is truly an incredible driving experience, with rear
wheel drive powerslides there for you to enjoy – and
hopefully control!
As ever our superb - and brave – instructors will be
pushing you to go faster and improve your lap times.
What’s more, with our onboard camera system, your
time in the M3 GTP will never be merely a memory:
when you leave us you’ll go away with a memory stick
containing every corner of every lap, recorded for you
to enjoy forever.

17
FLYING
SOLO
FORMULA JAGUAR

18
19
FORMULA JAGUAR
Single seater racing cars usually feature as part of a
corporate motorsport event at various other circuits, but
are typically modest machines with rev limited 1600cc or
2 litre engines and old fashioned mechanical gear levers.
Not at PalmerSport. With our big circuits and huge run off
areas we have the safety and desire to allow our guests
far greater freedom to drive seriously fast. Even on their
own. And to be honest we’ve found they’re a pretty
capable bunch.
We want PalmerSport guests to be seriously impressed
with the performance of all our cars, particularly our single
seaters. Maybe a little scared even. But then there’s
always a throttle to lift when self-preservation steps in!
Our Formula Jaguar cars have a stonking 3 litre V6
Cosworth developed engine, with 240bhp at 7,000
rpm. And because it accelerates so violently you’ll
appreciate the instant changes through the six speed
paddle shift gearshift on the steering wheel, F1 style. It
also means it’s dead easy to make Lewis Hamilton slick
gearchanges up and down, when the automatic throttle
blipper makes you sound like a real pro.
Of course there’s grip to match. Big slick tyres in a
soft compound provide huge amounts of adhesion,
particularly at speed once the downforce from the wings
really pushes them into the asphalt, so both cornering
performance and braking are phenomenal.
You’re free to really exploit the performance of these
amazing machines over about 10 laps of our fabulous,
fast flowing West circuit. And when you get back
to the pits the car data will be downloaded and our
engineers will go through it with you, explaining your
speeds around the lap and how they compare to a top
race driver.
Such an amazing experience deserves preserving, so
you’ll leave with not just this data but also a memory
stick with on-board camera footage of all your laps to
savour back at home, as a permanent record of your
stunning drive!

21
SEVENTH
WONDER
CATERHAM 7 SUPERLIGHT

22
23
CATERHAM 7 SUPERLIGHT
A driver’s instinct tells you that tail-slides are something
to be avoided or, if encountered, instantly corrected. Not
in the Caterham: the only way you’ll go really quick in
one of our fabulous little British two seaters is to learn
the art of drifting. This is how to provoke a power slide,
establish it and maintain it through the tight turns of this
tailor-made East circuit. And it’s brilliant fun!
And what you’ll find is that when you have the right
equipment and environment for the job, a tail slide
is not something to steer clear of, but something to
be exploited. In our Caterhams you’ll discover first
the profound pleasure in simply going sideways,
and then the sheer joy of using this technique to
direct the car, driving beyond the technical limit of
adhesion, controlling what would once have appeared
uncontrollable.
The Caterham might be the longest serving car on
PalmerSport – and with good reason – but we’ve not
stopped developing it. For 2011 we’re making it better
still to drive, with revised stiffer springs, better braking
and lighter steering – all as directed by JP.
Best of all, because our Caterhams have been
equipped with video cameras for the first time this
season, your sideways antics will be captured,
downloaded and presented to you to keep forever.

25
RACING
LEGEND
PORSCHE 911 JP3

26
27
PORSCHE 911 JP3
The Porsche 911 has become the most revered sports
car in history and the most successful racing car of all
time. And we have a fleet of them race-prepped, flat six
engine snarling, waiting for you at our North circuit.
Our fleet of 911 JP3s aren’t just sporting a stunning
new red and white livery this year: we’ve been through
the cars from end to end, improving the suspension for
added response and control, installing an all new AP
Racing brake system, fitting new wheels and adding
shorter gear ratios to give even greater acceleration.
drive car to one with precisely the opposite arrangement
so you can feel the difference.
Driving the 911 like a Clio is a surefire a way of ending
up pointing in the wrong direction - smoothness and
precision are the keys here. Driven properly, with
smooth braking, gentle turn in, precise apexes and early
reapplication of the throttle, you’ll understand why the
911 enjoys such an unparalleled reputation.
Quite deliberately we use the 911s on the same track as
the Clios, allowing you to jump from a front engine, front

29
TIN TOP
TEARAWAY
RENAULT CLIO CUP RACER

30
31
RENAULT CLIO CUP RACER
Our Renault Clio Cup Racers may only be small front
drive hatchbacks, but underestimate them at your peril.
These outrageously fun tin tops are pure racing cars
from the day they are made in the RenaultSport factory
in France. Everything onboard – brakes, suspension,
paddleshift gearbox and 205bhp engine – is built to race
specification, just like the touring cars you see on TV.
The set up on racing cars is always being honed though
and Jonathan Palmer has made a few more tweaks to
the Clio for 2011, with softer springs to improve ride
and grip, together with revised engine mapping to
make the cars smoother to drive away from the pits.
Most importantly though, power has been increased
through raising the rev limit to a full 7000rpm so that on
a gearchange you’re slap bang in the power band again.
Which means going faster!
With our instructors’ help, you’ll learn how to get the
most out of a front drive chassis, including how to use
the brakes to turn the car into a corner, how to recover
an apparently irretrievable slide and, most of all, how to
have more fun and go more quickly in a little hatchback
than you ever imagined possible.
And with the on board timing system, just like every
vehicle in the PalmerSport fleet, you’ll be chasing those
lap times and the champion trophy!

33
OFF-ROAD
KING
LAND ROVER DEFENDER

34
35
LAND ROVER DEFENDER
If you‘re hoping our Defenders will give you time to relax
between racing cars - think again. Unless you apply as
much skill, concentration and bravery in the mud as you
do on the track you’ll have no chance of successfully
negotiating your way down rock-strewn paths, through
rivers and up slopes so steep you’ll barely believe any
mere car could scale.
You’ll climb so steeply that all you can see through the
windscreen is sky, and plunge off what appears to be
the edge of the world. You’ll negotiate tracks covered in
impossible-looking boulders, ford rivers and take on our
infamous see-saw: you drive up one side at 45 degrees
and, using nothing other than the weight of the car at the
pivot point, tilt the platform so you can drive down the
other side.
We don’t use the Defender simply because it’s a British
motoring institution. Rather more importantly, for over
50 years its off-road abilities have remained unequalled
by any other. Just like every car at PalmerSport, in its
chosen field, it is the best of the best.

36
37
CATERHAM PURSUIT
You’ll be timed or scored on every activity at PalmerSport
but here’s one with a difference: a head to head contest
against one of your colleagues on two identical mirror
image courses with straights, hairpins and a mini
roundabout.
It all looks deceptively simple at first, but then the F1-
style lights count down and it’s GO as you blast from
the start in one of our Caterhams, balancing grip against
power on our soaking wet surface as you slip and slide
against the clock!
Caterham 7 Superlight
The driving duel
Of course you’ll want to go as fast as possible, but with
the dividing line between hero and zero being often
a millimetre too much throttle applied a millisecond
too early, you’ll need to master perfect power slides
and apply maximum concentration. And you’ll need
plenty of finesse, too, not least for that innocent looking
roundabout: master smoking doughnuts and you’ll beat
your opponent every time in this best of three competition.
You’ll not only drive the Caterham on the East circuit, you’ll also go head to head against
one of your colleagues in two identical cars on two identical tracks. The course may look
deceptively simple until you realise we’ve made the surface so wet, the cars don’t even
need to be in a corner to spin: a fraction too much throttle even in a straight line and you’ll
be looking at your zig-zagging tyre tracks in an instant. It’s a best of three competition,
where the temptation to glance across at your rival is almost impossible to resist. One tip
though, driving with real finesse nearly always wins the race. Caterham Sprint Race

38
39
SUPERRIDE (OPTIONAL)
The JP-LM SuperRide is our only optional activity, and
will challenge the expectations of even the biggest
adrenaline junkie.
This is a rare opportunity to experience mind-boggling
speed in the hands of one of our finest instructors. Not
only are our SuperRide JP-LMs driven at genuine race
pace, they’re even faster than the cars our guests will
drive in 2011, with more grip from fatter tyres, even
more downforce from the bodywork and another 15
per cent power.
It’s the lateral G-forces on your body that come as the
biggest surprise - not just the sheer amount but the
speed with which they build and the length of time they
are sustained through the fast turns of the South circuit.
You will leave us realising just how fast a racing car can
really be driven – and with a new appreciation for how
extraordinarily talented our instructors are.

40
BEDFORD AUTODROME – A THEATRE OF DREAMS
12 years ago, former F1 driver Jonathan Palmer spent
over a year painstakingly designing the world’s most
versatile, safe, and thrilling circuit complex: Bedford
Autodrome, with four tracks totalling over five miles of
tarmac comprising endless straights, flat out curves,
challenging bends and slide-inducing hairpins.
The whole philosophy behind PalmerSport and what
makes it so different to any other motorsport event is
that we want you go as fast as you possibly can. This is
why Bedford Autodrome was created specifically with
corporate motorsport – and not motor racing – in mind.
There are no barriers, concrete walls or grandstands to
avoid, just endless run-off and grass.
With the reassurance of knowing there’s virtually nothing
to hit, and a professional instructor alongside, you will
have the confidence to push our cars and yourself
harder than you might ever have thought possible. And
by running four circuits simultaneously we can keep
your waiting time to a minimum and maximise your time
behind the wheel.
Of course, you’ll still have an opportunity to catch your
breath, and the chance to relax in one of our stylish
and comfortable trackside hospitality suites, swapping
stories and comparing lap times with your colleagues
before you’re whisked away for the next chapter of your
day at PalmerSport.

42
43
THE PERFECT ENVIRONMENT
The PalmerSport experience extends beyond our four
race circuits. Our entire site has been engineered to
offer you and your guests comfortable surroundings, allweather
protection and superb catering at every turn.
So the very first thing that happens when you reach us
is a full English breakfast of the kind you’d receive in a
fine hotel, enjoyed at your own team table in a modern
hospitality centre with the rest of your guests.
This is a formula one day so appropriately BBC F1 TV
stars Martin Brundle and Jake Humphrey will talk you
through the PalmerSport event on our video briefing,
giving you the lowdown on the day ahead. Then
you’ll meet your dedicated team leader: your guide to
PalmerSport, who will be with you every step of the way.
From the hospitality suite you’ll be smoothly transported
in a couple of minutes to the driving activities in one of
our fleet of six bespoke PalmerSport buses, where you
have loads of space to lounge and chat with friends as
you travel.
After an adrenaline-filled morning you’ll return for a
superb two course lunch and then again at the end of
day for a traditional afternoon tea of scones, buns and
savouries while you wait to see if you’re one of our lucky
trophy winners.
All our trackside suites are equipped with warm toilets,
comfortable seating, plasma screens and, new for this
year, wi-fi connectivity. They’re also fully stocked with a
wide range of drinks and light bites so you can relax and
refresh in between driving sessions.
We operate a staff to guest ratio of better than 1:1 and
there will always be someone there to help answer any
question. We apply the same attention to detail across
every single aspect of PalmerSport, and it’s our job to
ensure you experience one of the most memorable days
of your life.

44
45
PALMERSPORT INSTRUCTORS
PALMERSPORT TEAM LEADERS
One statistic says it all: despite the stringent requirements
and high qualifications needed even to be interviewed
as a potential PalmerSport instructor, just one in ten will
actually prove to be good enough to work for us.
How good? Well chances are you’ll be sat alongside an
experienced racer whose CV includes such highlights
as being a frontrunner in the British Touring Car
Championship, or a hotshot who’s on the verge of
reaching the pinnacle of world motorsport. We don’t like
to boast, but F1 champion Lewis Hamilton is just one
member of an illustrious list of drivers that have instructed
for us at Bedford Autodrome.
But simply being an ultra-quick racing driver will not
earn anyone a place as a member of the PalmerSport
team. Even more important is the ability for our instructors
to establish a close rapport with your guests, to quickly
understand their levels of experience, confidence and
expectation.
The most rewarding thing for them is to see every guest
progress and get the maximum satisfaction from their time
in the cars, through encouragement and coaching, from
whatever level they might start.
So our instructors need to be supremely fast but also
possess outstanding teaching and communicating skills.
Not to mention nerves of steel.
It’s little wonder so few make the grade.
Examples of our instructors from the past 10 years
Every guest at PalmerSport is part of a team and every team has its own
leader - a highly experienced member of our staff who will stay with you
throughout the day to ensure that the entire event runs like clockwork.
Your team leader will let you know exactly what you should be doing:
they will explain every activity, when you will be driving and what you
need to wear. Most importantly you never need to worry about missing
a precious drive in the cars – there’s no queuing here, just a highly
organised schedule which your team leader will smoothly implement!
You can just relax.
If you have a query or concern on any matter, whether it’s choosing the
correct size of helmet or needing a more comfortable seating position in
the car, you’ll be put at ease.

IT’S ALL IN THE PREPARATION
Maintaining a fleet of over 100 vehicles to
PalmerSport standards is a monumental task – every
single one has to be fit and ready to be driven to its
limit all day, every day
This is why we employ a team of over 30 engineers,
most hand picked from top racing teams including
Formula One. We don’t just replace consumables
like tyres and brake pads - our cars follow a rigorous
schedule of maintenance where parts are lifed and
replaced regardless of condition, just as they are in the
safety-dominated aircraft industry.
By applying such standards we can ensure that our
cars are not only supremely reliable and safe, but as
close to identical as they can possibly be. Equality
of vehicle performance is a vital component in the
PalmerSport experience: if you win one of our prized
trophies, you’ll know it’s because you were simply the
fastest driver out there.

MSV AIR – ARRIVE IN STYLE
PalmerSport is part of MotorSport Vision (MSV), which
owns and operates five circuits over the UK. MSV has
its own Hawker Beechcraft King Air B200GT aircraft
which is available for PalmerSport guests as an exclusive
air charter service, to provide the fastest and most
comfortable way to travel to PalmerSport by landing on
our own runway right beside the circuits. A truly unique
convenience, that’s fun too!
The King Air B200GT is a pressurized twin turbo prop
aircraft that can fly at 300 knots and at 35,000 feet
above all the weather, and has a range of over 1,000
nautical miles. It can seat 6 passengers in club armchair
luxury, with toilet compartment and plenty of baggage
space. For shorter journeys it can seat up to 9 plus
pilots when minimal luggage space is required.
The aircraft is typically operated from Fairoaks, just
south west of London near the M25/M3 junction,
direct to Bedford Aerodrome in just over 20 minutes.
Please contact PalmerSport on 01403 733999 for
prices, further information and bookings.
Bedford Aerodrome is a licensed airfield
owned and operated by MotorSport Vision
Ltd (MSV).
Bedford Aerodrome mainly serves visitors
to PalmerSport, but is available to other
users on request. With a 1000m runway, it is
capable of accommodating Public Transport
flights typically up to King Air B200 aircraft,
and light jets operated privately, subject to
the pilot’s discretion. Further information is at
Event Bookings
It couldn’t be simpler
There is just one type of PalmerSport event, during which every guest
takes part in every activity, driving each car for the same amount of time,
whether a private individual or part of an exclusive corporate booking of
120 people.
There’s no complicated menu of additional items to select from. The only
choice you’ll have to make is whether to include the SuperRide in our
extraordinary JP-LM two seat race car for all your guests.
Other than that your choices are simply what date you would like, how
many guests you wish to entertain and what lunch menu you prefer!
We spend the first two months of the year preparing our fleet of vehicles
for the season ahead, but thereafter we run six days a week (not Sundays)
from 1 March to the middle of December.
You can make an exclusive booking for 15, 20, 30, 40, 45, 60, 75, 80,
90, 100 to a maximum of 120 guests, and shared events are available
from just 1 guest. We can even arrange a half day package in a selection
of our vehicles or supply gift vouchers that can be used as a reward or to
incentivise your sales team.
Our PalmerSport Account Managers will be happy to talk you through
price and date options. Once your PalmerSport day is booked our team
of Event Co-ordinators will then liaise with you on every detail.
