Student Services and Student Life Off-Campus Housing Student Services at Newnham, King, Markham and Seneca@York Campuses maintain a housing registry of shared and private off-campus accommodations available to Seneca students. OneCard Services The multi-functional Seneca OneCard is your Photo ID card as well as your library card. Your initial card is covered by the Student Services Fee and can be used as a payment card once money has been deposited to pay for photocopies and printing services. Your Seneca OneCard can also be used to 1234567890 ABC reserve equipment at the Sports Centre. Expires: Month Year When you pick up your card you will be STUDENT NAME given information about accessing your e-mail and the Internet. The Seneca OneCard is for all new full-time students and staff. To obtain this card you must produce a valid photo ID. This card is not available to part-time students. Returning students continue to use the same card. If you have changed programs, another faculty or if your card has expired, you can update your card at the OneCard office. There is a $10.00 fee plus taxes to replace your lost or stolen card. The Newnham OneCard office has a student print shop, which offers printing services to students. Students have access to computers that can be used to send files to the colour and the black and white printers. Students attending Jane campus should watch for dates and times to have their pictures taken. We are currently working on several new applications that we hope will make the Seneca OneCard even more convenient and cost effective. parking Parking spaces are available for daily parking at most campuses. Students are encouraged to use public transportation or carpool whenever possible as parking spaces are limited. Parking permits are available for Newnham, King and Markham campus. Pay and Display machines are available in the parking lots for those who have not purchased a Semester Parking Permit. The machines take cash and credit cards. For further information, contact York Parking at 416-736-5335. security College Security is responsible for the safety of occupants, the protection of college assets and the enforcement of various college policies. Security guards are present at all campus locations during peak hours. Security officers respond to safety and security threats, investigate incidents, provide first aid, manage access control, provide general information and control keys. At some locations, College Security is available to escort students or staff to their vehicle or bus stop. For more information, contact College Security at 416-491-5050 ext. 22565. For added safety, emergency telephones are located at several campuses. These phones are directly linked to College Security. Surveillance cameras are in place at various locations at most campuses. STUDENT INVOLVEMENT AT SENECA Co-curricular activities at Seneca complement your classroom experience. Activities include new student orientations, Frosh Week activities, International Days, Black History Month activities, trips to Niagara Falls, Student Club activities, intramural leagues, The Seneca Leadership Program events, workshops, and the radio station at the Seneca@York Campus. At Seneca, student leaders play an important role representing all Seneca students. Leadership opportunities are available within the Student Government, the SMILE Mentoring program, Student Services, Athletics & Recreation, Residence, Clubs and Associations. The costeffective and convenient transportation option is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week at the King and Newnham campuses to all students and employees, ages 21 and older who have a valid driver’s licence. Senecans can join Zipcar for a $25 annual membership fee and drive for as little as $8 an hour (which includes the rental, insurance and gas). The membership fee also entitles users to park for free in designated Zipcar spots at the King, and Newnham campuses. Computing Commons Newnham, King, Seneca@York, Markham Student Help Desk - Providing computer and information technology assistance to all students Website: inside.senecac.on.ca Telephone: 416-493-9867 E-mail: student.helpdesk@senecacollege.ca Computing Commons - computer and information technology assistance is available at the Student Help Desk, in the Computing Commons, via in-person, telephone and e-mail inquiries. The Student Help Desk website contains FAQs, instruction sheets and additional technical support information. Support is provided for inquiries such as using College e-mail, wireless connectivity, access to My.Seneca (the College's Portal and Learning Management System), ResNet support, SIRIS (student timetable system and more), troubleshooting hardware and software issues, etc. All Seneca College students are provided with a College e-mail account and have access to SeneNet (wired and wireless connectivity). Application software varies by campus and is based on “campus specific” requirements. Computing resources are for current Seneca College students and authentication “login” is required for access. Through the library website, the College community has access to over 161 databases, an online stock photo collection (for student assignments), over 9,000+ streaming educational and instruction videos, research tutorials, online course readings, 65,000+ eBooks and over 60 different research guides, all of which are available online, 24/7. The library also provides audio-visual equipment, multi-media and print resources that support all programs of study. Seneca Libraries staff offer assistance in person, through email, or online at askON.ca, a real-time chat reference service. Students are encouraged to take advantage of our resources and services to further their academic endeavours.
