ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
First, I would like to thank all the people to whom I owe the privilege of sharing
some of their inner journey in the context of my workshops, and who have allowed
me to witness the magnificent process of their soul’s awakening.
I also want to thank those who have taken the time to review the
manuscript and make detailed comments, especially Thierry Pasquier for his
extensive editing, as well as Stéphane Richard.
My thanks also to those who made the final corrections, Francine Laliberté,
Éric Chevalier, Nathalie Jolicoeur and Réjeanne Nault.
I also want to express my very special gratitude to Julie Nantel for her
invaluable support throughout the writing of this book, and for the enormous
amount of energy which she put into the presentation and in-depth review of this
work.
Finally, a heartfelt thank you to my daughter Véronique for her technical
support in the final formatting and the cover page, and especially for the constant
inspiration which she instils into my daily life.
To my Teachers,
With profound gratitude
and respect..
FOREWORD
The white birch said to me: I am limited in my form, but not in my
spirit. If you look at me closely, you will see God among my limbs,
within my trunk, and then in my leaves. But your vision is blurred by
what you see. What you see is like static that prevents you from truly
seeing. As long as you haven’t let go of your attachment to your
individual specialness, as long as you haven’t thrown your whole
being away to be swallowed by the stars, as long as you think you can
still exist, what you see is just a reflection of your own lack of
consciousness.
To exist – there lies the great illusion. You do not exist, I do not exist,
none of us exist. Only this consciousness of non-existence can allow us
to really see. But then once we get to that point, there is no one left to
see, for between he who sees and that which is seen, there is no longer
any distance: existence becomes simultaneous, common, and there is
nothing left to see, nothing left to be experienced. What is left is ultimate
freedom, the freedom to be and not to exist.
Why should you want to live in separateness, at a distance from
everything? To take upon yourself what belongs to the Universe? The
Universe will not allow it. If you try to do that, you will lose yourself
and spend your time in vain attempts to find yourself again. This will
mean suffering, despair and death.
And you will thus die many deaths, until the moment when, having
given up everything which mattered to you, including your own sense
of identity, you will rediscover... what I truly am as a white birch...
within yourself.
