C.O. -H- -As Christmas Day is a. holy day as well as an universal puhlic holiday, and as, ll1oreOVf>r, t he pressure <strong>of</strong> police duty on Christmas Eve is exeeptional1y severe, Officers ill Chrt.rge <strong>of</strong> Districts a.re directed to arrange for the release from duty during that dav <strong>of</strong> all Members <strong>of</strong> the Force under their comma~d, except the few whose services are indispensahle to the maiutenance <strong>of</strong> order, etc. It is desirable tha.t as many <strong>of</strong> the iJolice as pra,ctica,ble should ha,e an opportunity <strong>of</strong> participating in the general festivities. Arrangements must <strong>of</strong> course be made to have a.n ample number <strong>of</strong> polil.;e on duty in the evening and during tbe ni ght, when the demands upon them are likely to be heavy.
