Summary Annual Report 2008 11
7. Partnerships & Funding
Strategic Partnerships
To effectively deliver results, SNV West
and Central Africa focused on building
high impact strategic partnerships.
Several countries in the region developed,
or maintained, close collaboration with
the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands
(EKN).
SNV Benin and SNV Ghana are two of the
five pilot countries experimenting with
the domestic accountability programme.
SNV Ghana is piloting the implementation
of Local Capacity Development Fund
(LCDF) (The introduction of this fund by
SNV is an innovative initiative to stimulate
a local market for capacity development
services. The LCDF channel will expand
over time to stimulate the emergence
of a local market for
demand-oriented capacity development
services to local actors. The funds will be
developed with local and international actors,
so they will become self-sustaining
and primarily locally/regionally owned).
Regional partnerships with United Nations
Development Programme (UNDP), Fair
Trade Labelling Organisation (FLO), action-research
organisation Laboratoire Citoyennetés,
Royal Tropical Institute (KIT),
and Millennium Village programme continued.
