2. Guidelines for nominations Who can make a nomination? Everyone is welcome to make a nomination, especially member organisations or other organisations and individuals who actively support SOLIDAR's work. Who can be nominated? Individuals and organisations whose outstanding work is fuelled by vision and tireless commitment and whose achievements have contributed greatly to the struggle for more social justice and equality, and who are in line or linked with the values shared within the SOLIDAR network. Preference will be given to individuals or organisations working at local or national level in one or more of the following fields: - Campaigning for social justice, democracy and human rights. This could include campaigns for trade union rights, free speech, or freedom for the media. It could also include campaigns for improved social conditions. - Establishing hands-on projects to improve the conditions of minorities or disadvantaged people. This could include: projects which promote peace and reconciliation in troubled areas; projects which focus on training, employment, cultural activities, housing or the provision of social services; projects which promote improved access to information. Decisions will be made based on the level of synergy that the individual or organisation’s work has with SOLIDAR’s work. You can see our current activities on our website (www.solidar.org). What are the categories for nominations? In 2013, there are two awards categories open for nominations: 1) Social Justice in Europe: open for an organisation or individual working within the 27 EU Member States; 2) International Solidarity – open for an organisation or individual working in any country outside the European Union. 3) A third award will be decided within the Jury on Lifetime Achievements. Who decides on the winners? The winners are selected by a jury comprising of Members of the European Parliament and others who share a long history of involvement with SOLIDAR’s work and identify with its values. When are the awards presented? The Awards will be presented at an awards ceremony at the European Parliament in Brussels in 2013. Nomination Form Silver Rose Awards 2013 2
