With just one call, all outpatient clinic
appointments can be scheduled with
the necessary Ochsner physicians
and specialists. Currently there are
more adults than children living
with congenital heart disease
in the United States. Due to
increased survival rates, medical
breakthroughs and advanced
technologies, the number of
adults will increase by 5%
annually. Ochsner is proud to
offer comprehensive treatment
for patients as they grow into
adulthood including family
planning issues and
high risk pregnancy in
ACHD patients.
ADULT CONGENITAL SPECIALIZED SERVICES
The Adult Congenital Heart Program provides highly
specialized, comprehensive care for patients diagnosed with
heart disease from early childhood, through adolescence,
to adulthood. We welcome referrals of complex patients and
congenital heart defects, including these conditions:
• Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Return
• Aortic and Pulmonic Valve Abnormalities
• Atrial and Ventricular Septal Defect
• AV Canal Abnormalities
• Coarctation of the Aorta
• Double-Chambered Right Ventricle
• Ebstein Anomaly
• Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome
• Infundibular Right Ventricular Obstruction
• Patent Ductus Arteriosus
• Pulmonary Atresia
• Pulmonary Hypertension
• Single Ventricle
• Tetralogy of Fallot
• Transposition of the Great Arteries
• Tricuspid Atresia
• Truncus Arteriosus
Also, patients having had one of the following procedures:
• Arterial Switch
• Any Conduits, Valved or Nonvalved
• Blalock-Tassig Shunt

Led by Dr. Stephen Ramee, Medical Director of the
Adult Congenital Heart Program, Ochsner brings
together a team of experts to deliver advanced medical
and surgical care in:

• Cardiovascular MRI

PATIENT AND REFERRING PHYSICIAN BENEFITS
• Patients receive a complete assessment by multiple specialists in a single
outpatient clinic visit.
• Referring physicians have direct access to patients’ medical records
electronically through OchsnerView – Ochsner’s online physician portal.
• Patients have access to Ochsner’s Brent House Hotel, a full-service hotel on
the Ochsner Medical Center’s campus for patients and their family members.
• The JOHVI specializes in minimally invasive heart valve procedures, avoiding
major surgery, if possible.
• Extensive experience with minimally invasive procedures to close ASD, PDA,
and PFO.
• Nurse Navigator Program - dedicated Nurse coordinates and assists with all
aspects of patient care from patient education to physician referrals.
