American Heart Association HeartCode ACLS
The Ochsner Health System is pleased to offer HeartCode ACLS, an interactive
computer-based training which can be completed at your own pace via OLN!
The ACLS Provider Manual is embedded within this course. You will have access to the
manual during the course and up to 2 years after.

You will need to be assigned Part 1 and Part 2 by your OLN! Facility
Administrator. You will be assigned the course 60 days prior to your
current card expiring. You must complete both parts prior to the
expiration date of the assignment (not 60 days as stated on the Part
1 certificate).
Cognitive component (Part 1): The cognitive component of the ACLS
Course allows students to work through the ACLS training curriculum
at their own pace. This component includes micro-simulation
technology, scenario based interactive learning, and testing. Part 1
includes: Pre-Course Self Assessment, BLS, 10 Core Cases,
Supplemental Material, and Written Testing. Upon successful
completion you will need to print your Part 1 certificate.
Skills check component (Part 2) can be completed in one of two ways:
Instructor led skills check-off: must be completed by a current AHA
ACLS Instructor. The Part 1 certificate will need to be submitted to
the Instructor at the time of the skills check-off with the 13 digit code
written on it from Part 2. These skills will include: adult 1-rescuer
CPR, 1 minute of bag-valve mask ventilations. Mega Code is
optional. Intubation as required. Skills check-off must be completed
before the end of the month in which you were assigned the course.
Once the certificate and skills check-off forms are completed an AHA
ACLS Provider card will be issued. Credit will be given in OLN!
Voice Assisted Manikin (VAM) check-off: See calendar dates for
facility check-offs and call to schedule an appointment time for your
completion of Part 2. The Part 1 certificate will need to be submitted
at time of check-off. Once Part 2 is successfully completed and both
certificates are submitted, an AHA ACLS Provider card will be

issued. Credit will automatically be given in OLN upon completion of
both Part 1 and Part2.
