SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 4 S E V E N T H A N N U A L D A K O TA C L A S S I C
SIOUX FALLS, SD
Welcome to the sale!
On behalf of the Hainy,Vanhove and Swanson team, welcome to their Seventh Annual Dakota Classic Production Sale. There is
a tremendous amount of club calf history at the root of these operations, and I am certainly proud to represent these farming
and ranching families that have such a powerful reputation.
This set of females will be, without question, one of the most impressive sets to sell at auction this season. There is a tremendous
amount of maternal ability, in addition to power, in this big-time set of donor prospects and foundation building cows.
The females that sell in this offering will earn many times their auction price down the road. They are the
right kind and are backed by a great set of people. Early visitors to the offering have been blown away by the quality and the
depth in this set of cows and bred heifers. Make plans to visit, or view them online.
The cattle are available for viewing online on the Dakota Classic sale page at www.ccollinsinc.com. Please call anytime
with buying assistance or for questions on the cattle. We can easily assist and help arrange trucking to Midwestern and
Southern states; just give us a call immediately after the sale.
On sale day, if you would like to be on the phone during the auction, please call
or text Christy one to two hours prior to auction time at (516) 366-0734.
ABSENTEE BIDDING
If you will not be able to attend the auction and you would like to be on the phone for absentee bidding, or you would like to leave a bid, contact
Christy Collins at (516) 366-0734 (voice or text). A buyer can arrange to be on the phone with one of our sale staff. Just give us a call…we will be
glad to help you. Online bidding will also be made available through www.liveauctions.com. You must register 24 hours prior to sale time.
BREEDING GUARANTEE
All females are sold under the condition “safe in calf” as attested to by a licensed veterinarian and sell with no further guarantee. The ultrasound
results reported are as accurate as possible but are not guaranteed. No guarantee is given that bred females will deliver a live calf.
NOTE ABOUT PREGNANCYTESTING
Careful consideration was given when selecting the cattle for the sale offering in reference to A.I. service. We feel that the majority of the cattle
selling are safe to their A.I. date or the approximate due date that is given. Please make sure that you do not confuse A.I. service date with
approximate due date. Some of the females that were only exposed to the pasture sires are given an approximate due date in correlation with the
vet examination. While we cannot guarantee A.I. service, we feel that a large part of the offering is A.I. safe. Additional pregnancy testing will be
available on the sale supplement sheet.
• Lot 2 has a special story. She was a featured female in an earlier Dakota Classic catalog as a bred
heifer. She had generated lots of attention that year.Unfortunately, she calved just before the sale,
and Roger made the decision to keep her back and offer her again, down the road,as a young cow.
She has built a great track record in her short time in production, including a $5,000 HeatWave
steer sold to Bonham.
• This is a power cow with lots of hip, bone and substance.Pay attention here! This pedigree is potent,
and her mating to Monopoly could more than pay for her purchase price. The Southern Comfort
daughters can be found in some of the leading club calf producing herds across the country. This is one
of the best Maine-Sim donor candidates to sell anywhere this year. This one’s going to make money.
• Selling one-half embryo interest with the option to double the bid for full interest and full possession.
• Rob and Roger argued about whether or not to sell this cow.If you want a powerful Maine-influenced
donor or daughter of IrishWhiskey to add to your lineup, this may be one of the bestWhiskey daughters
that I have ever sold.Using the word“power”in describing this female is an understatement! She’s extra
long fronted and has one of the biggest, flattest hips you can find in any young producing cow.
• This donor dam will likely calve to her pasture sire and will be ready to flush this spring.Leading
breeders are aware of the success of HeatWave and HeatWave sons onWhiskey-bred females. This cow,
with a little management, could make farm payments…she’s that good!Watch the video to see these
females move;they are sound and functional and ready to go to work.
• The dam of Lots 3 and 4 was raised in the Hainy program.Roger was a pioneer in the use of 6807.
Rob stated,“This cow may have been the most impressive this summer.”If you sorted all of theWhiskey
consistent and complete, all built the same way!
• R509 is moderate in her frame size, has a ton of body depth,is good boned and powerful hipped. She’s
complete, extra sound in her hock and moves good. She would make a great addition to any progressive
donor program in any part of the country.I can tell you that Rob and Roger are concerned about adding
this much power and this many great cows to the front end of this sale.It is a risk to offer a female like
this that has so much profit-generating potential.Take advantage of this offering.
