WEBSTER — A benefit dance held to raise
funds for Canines for Combat Veterans will be
held at the American Legion Post #184 on
School Street.
The need for dogs is so great and very little
funding is made available to purchase and
train the dogs. Co-Chairmen for this event are
Sons Commander Karl Kuhn Sr. and Sr. Vice
Commander of the Post Jim Frissell, U.S.M.C.
Ret.
The evening will kick off with dancing from
8 p.m. to midnight with Rewind. This band is
direct from the Wolf Den at the Mohegan Sun
and is rated as one of the top dance bands
playing all the hits from the ‘60s through the
‘80s. Doors open at 7 p.m., so get there early.
All proceeds go directly toward the $10,000
needed for a dog and we are soliciting donations
for the evening’s raffle from local merchants
as well as corporate donations.
With the support of the community we will
be able to provide a dog at no cost to a qualified
veteran as well as free travel to the training
campus in Princeton, along with free accommodations
for their two-week training session.
“The dog assists the handler with his or her
transition to prosthetics, helps with wheelchair
bound vets, they retrieve and carry
objects, press buttons and open doors, turn off
and on lights, assist the hard of hearing, provide
balance when walking, as well as companionship.”
stated Kuhn.
If any group, business, or individual would
like to make a donation toward the snacks, raf-
