President Dr. Narendra Kumar for receiving the most
prestigious Pravasi Bharatiya Samman award in Kochi.
The 2013 AAPI Global Health Summit was a huge success
and plans are underway for a very promising convention
in Chicago during Memorial Day week this year.

The AAPI team is not sitting on its laurels. Plans and execution
for several events throughout the upcoming year
have already begun. AAPI will focus on the fight against childhood obesity in various parts of the United States in conjunction
with Shanker Mahadevan’s musical shows. Several educational seminars and walks are being planned during this event. With
its extensive network of expertise, AAPI could offer significant advances in addressing the cause and prevention of childhood
obesity. It is important that we collectively work to advocate for the problems facing this country. I want to thank the national
organizing committee (Dr. Narendra Kumar, Dr. Jayesh Shah, Dr. Ravi Jahagirdar, Dr. Seema Jain, Dr. Ajay Lodha, Dr. Gautam
Samadder, Dr. Hemant Dhingra, Dr. Sam Bhagia and Dr. Manju Sachdev) for giving the seed money to help us with fundraising
for this event.
I thank all chapters and their executive committees who have come forward to make this event possible. This year, a mesmerizing
musical show by Shanker Mahadevan has been planned for between June 8 and June 30, 2013. Please join the walks, participate
in the seminars and enjoy the musical concerts across various cities in United States. This program will unite and connect all of
us as well as our chapters in a unique way, making AAPI stronger. This event will take place in the following cities on the dates
listed below:
June 8 in Cleveland
June 9 in Los Angeles
June 15 in Dallas
June 16 in New York
June 22 in New Jersey
June 23 in Atlanta
June 29 in Tampa
June 30 in San Jose
As the youngest President-Elect of AAPI, my goals will be to increase involvement of young physicians and enhance their
participation at all levels of AAPI and realize our vision of AAPI 2020. I will gear AAPI’s agenda to cater the needs of young
physicians to ensure future growth and outstanding contributions from physicians of Indian origin in the American healthcare
system.
The vision of AAPI 2020 would be to have 20,000 paid members; three offices: an administrative office in Chicago, a legislative
office in Washington DC and an India Liaison office in New Delhi; and 20 employees serving all members with value added
to membership. The administrative office would perform the administrative work for all chapters and would have an account
executive for each region who will help the subchapters perform their activities with solid administrative support.
