COLD CONTAINMENT SAIFOR IS CHOOSEN TO IMPROVE THE PUE SAIFOR has been the chosen partner from Globalways AG to improve the cooling efficiency of its high-performance Data center in Stuttgart. CASE STUDY - GERMANY Globalways AG is one of the most established IT infrastructure providers in Germany, with headquarters in Garching near Munich, offering in Stuttgart and Frankfurt am Main, colocation and server housing areas with highly available infrastructure. The Globalways data Center Stuttgart lies in the heart of Stuttgart, divided into several rooms and cages, and is connected via redundant gigabit backbone to the highly reliable fiber optic backbone of Globalways in the European Internet metropolis Frankfurt am Main, and the DE-CIX, the leading German Internet node, ensuring this way, professional IT services for demanding business customers. Demanding reference customers such as the Kassenaerztliche Vereinigung Baden-Wuerttemberg, the Reutlinger General-Anzeiger, the state capital Stuttgart and the Federal Health Insurance Office have trusted for many years on the reliable and flexible solutions of Globalways . The Challenge: Move from PUE (Power Usage effectiveness) of 2,2 to achieve 1,6. In Order to Reduce Power Consumption of this Data Center, the Efficiency plan includes: 1.Raise Water inlet temperature from 7ºC to 12ºC 2.Use of Free Cooling 3.Raise Supply Air Temperature from 22ºC to 25ºC 4.Isolate Hot & Cold Aisles 5.Avoid Air Circulation Inside Rack 6.Avoid Air Circulation at Corridor level 7.Reduce Power Consumption of Cooling Devices (Outside Chiller & In-room AC) The Project: Refurbishment of Room 4 to prepare it for Medium – High density applications, using the Data Center Solutions from SAIFOR and a new Free Cooling Installation. The Project includes a Cold Corridor with ARCTIC Server cabinets and Cubo Air Containment System, in combination with the new generation HDC Aisle Cool Units, and the dedicated Airflow management accessories. Reasons to Choose SAIFOR 1.Decrease Power Consumption HDC Cool Units from SAIFOR offer a High Cooling capacity, up to 36Kw, using inlet water at 12-15ºC, and Less than 1Kw of Power usage per HDC Cool Unit. The use of high temperatures in inlet water, reduce the Power Consumption from the External chiller, and allows the use of Free Cooling Equipments, and in terms of security, reduce condensation levels, avoiding undesired water drops inside the DC. 2.Easy Integration to existing BMS SAIFOR HDC Cool Units, incorporate a web browser for remote management, and Open communication Protocols like Modbus, SNMP, BACnet and Lonworks, that made easy the integration of SAIFOR Cool units in the existing Building Management System, already in operation. 3.Flexibility to Customize To maximize the Number of Racks in the room, the cold Corridor was customized to integrate an existing structural pillar inside of the corridor, including a special design to close the end of the corridor, just 15cm from the Wall. Of course, these Taylor-made Solutions, keep same isolation requirements and aesthetics of standard material. 4.Answer Capacity Project lead time requirements, including customized solutions, were quite short, in order to keep the commitment of migration of active equipments to the new Site in best conditions. 18 · SAIFOR · GITEX <strong>2010</strong>
ABU DHABI AIRPORT AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL CENTRE Abu Dhabi International Airport's new control tower and air traffic facilities are scheduled to be fully operational later this year as part of a $6.8bn airport expansion. Within this, French company Aeroport de Paris Ingenierie (ADPi) was appointed in 2006 for a $108.9m project. Air Traffic Control Complex (ATCC), positioned midway between the two runways is designed to include a five-storey technical and support building integrated with a 110-metre high visual control tower, the tallest in the region. The design for the telecommunications rooms and data centers at the ATCC was based on stringent specification requirement for the special nature of the ATCC. Bond Communications, a world class technology integrator won the contract to implement an integrated telecommunication system at the ATCC. The major challenge they faced was to find a cabinet manufacturer who could supply cabinets meeting the specifications and deliver quickly. They turned to SAIFOR and Topnet Distribution, the Authorised SAIFOR Distributor in UAE. CASE STUDY - UNITED ARAB EMIRATES SAIFOR and Topnet Distribution offered the customer a solution based on the Dynamic cabinet with some customization as required for the project. The implementation team faced a tough deadline to complete the project, but at the same time it had to be a customized design to meet the specification. SAIFOR was the only manufacturer who could meet all the requirement in the shortest possible time. Some of the unique requirement of the project were: IP42 specification, extending the depth of the cabinet after installation, and cable management in front, side and rear of the cabinet. SAIFOR's efficient design, manufacturing and shipping helped meet the demands of the project.
