Kerry scoops Lifetime Achievement<br />
Award in Dementia care<br />
Kerry Fisher, organisational development<br />
manager was presented with the Lifetime<br />
Achievement Award in Dementia Care at the<br />
UK Dementia Congress held in Bournemouth.<br />
The judges, who included clinical psychologist Dr Graham<br />
Stokes, said of Kerry, who lives in Nantwich: “From a strong<br />
field she demonstrated she had been immersed in dementia<br />
care and had achieved changes in her organisation that can<br />
contribute to the development of qualitative dementia care.<br />
She maintains a passion and enquiring mind necessary for the<br />
future development of dementia care.”<br />
Kerry has been involved in the development of <strong>Belong</strong>’s<br />
groundbreaking approach to dementia care which is benefiting<br />
residents at <strong>Belong</strong> <strong>Crewe</strong>. Kerry said later:<br />
“Never in my wildest dreams did I consider that<br />
I would win this award. Nevertheless, I did enjoy<br />
the moment and left the National Dementia<br />
Congress feeling quite a celebrity!”<br />
She added that she felt a sense of pride in belonging to an<br />
organisation that was becoming increasingly known and<br />
respected as one of the best in the sector.<br />
There is a culture within our organisation that is dedicated to<br />
achieving the optimum quality-of-life outcomes for people<br />
who should be ‘living’ rather than dying with dementia.<br />
Celebrating Excellence<br />

‘Celebrating Excellence’ event on<br />
Tuesday, 7th December 2010, held<br />
at Wychwood Park. The event was<br />
organised by Cheshire Learning<br />
Resource Network, to recognise<br />
achievement in social care.<br />
Everyone enjoyed a nice lunch and<br />
entertainment from comedian<br />
Laurence Clarke.<br />
Mayor of Cheshire East, Gordon<br />
Baxendale, presented certificates<br />
for the Great North West Awards<br />
to Operations Director, Tracy Paine,<br />
on behalf of <strong>Belong</strong> and Belinda<br />
Jones for North West Dementia<br />
Carer of the year. Councillor<br />
Neil Ritchie, from Cheshire West<br />
and Cheshire presented Kerry<br />
Fisher, Operational Development<br />
Manager, with her certificate for a<br />
Lifetime Achievement in Dementia<br />
Award.<br />
