Judge’s Select Awards (Awards of Merit) will be presented after the Best of Breed competition, at<br />

the discretion of the judge, in no particular order and in any quantity per gender, subject to the<br />

total limit. Best of Breed, Best of Winners and Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed winners are<br />

excluded from the selections. The number of Select Awards will be 10% of the total entry for Best<br />

Veteran Classes - for <strong>Dog</strong>s and Bitches<br />

• 7 years and older, under 10 years old • 10 years and over<br />

Parade of Veterans - There will be a Parade of Veterans open to all AKC registered dogs and<br />

bitches who are at least 7 years old on the day of the show. Entry fee is $16. Indicate ‘Parade of<br />

Veterans’ on the entry form in the space for additional classes. Each entry will receive a rosette<br />

imprinted with the dog’s name. All entrants must prepare a short written synopsis of their dog to<br />

be given to the ring steward which will be read to introduce the dog.<br />

Parade Titleholders - All dogs and bitches that are AKC champions of record or holders of any<br />

other AKC title are eligible to enter the non-competitive Parade of Titleholders. Entry fee is $16.<br />

Indicate Parade of Titleholders on the entry form in the space for ‘additional classes’. Each entry<br />

will receive a rosette imprinted with the dog’s name. All entrants must prepare a short written<br />

synopsis of their dog to be given to the ring steward which will be read to introduce the dog.<br />

NON-REGULAR CLASSES - MULTIPLE DOG ENTRIES<br />

Stud <strong>Dog</strong> Class - For Stud <strong>Dog</strong>s and two of their Get. It is not necessary that the Get be under<br />

the same ownership as that of the Stud <strong>Dog</strong>. The Stud <strong>Dog</strong> must be entered in the Stud <strong>Dog</strong><br />

class and shown in the ring with his Get. The Stud <strong>Dog</strong> may be entered separately in one of the<br />

Regular or Non-Regular classes at the regular entry fee of $23, with ‘Stud <strong>Dog</strong>’ class indicated on<br />

the entry form in the space for additional classes at an additional $16. Or, the Stud <strong>Dog</strong> may be<br />

entered in Stud <strong>Dog</strong> class only for a $23 entry fee.<br />

The Get MUST be entered in one of the Regular Classes, but there is no additional<br />

entry fee for them as participants with their sire in this non-regular class.<br />

The Get only will be judged, on the merits of the Get. While the merits of the Stud <strong>Dog</strong> are not to<br />

be considered in the placement of the entry, the Stud <strong>Dog</strong> must be examined to determine if it has<br />

a condition that would require its disqualification or excusal under the <strong>Dog</strong> Show Rules, AKC<br />

policy or the standard for the Breed.<br />

Brood Bitch Class - Same as Stud <strong>Dog</strong> Class except substitute Brood Bitch for Stud <strong>Dog</strong>, and<br />

Produce for Get.<br />

PUPPY SWEEPSTAKES<br />

JUDGE: Mrs. Carol Somers<br />

No Champions of record are eligible. <strong>Dog</strong>s shown in Sweepstakes must also be entered in one of<br />

the Regular Classes at the regular entry fee and on the regular entry form. Indicate Sweepstakes<br />

class with the age division in the space provided for ‘Additional Classes’. Sweepstakes entries<br />

may be shown by anyone in good standing with AKC. Professional handlers may show only dogs<br />

owned or co-owned by them.<br />

The first place winner in each Puppy Class shall compete against each other for the<br />

Best Puppy in Sweepstakes title. The first place winners in each Junior Class shall compete<br />

against each other for the Best Junior in Sweepstakes title. Then, the Best Puppy in Sweepstakes<br />

shall compete against the Best Junior in Sweepstakes for Best in Sweepstakes.<br />

CLASSIFICATION<br />

Fay MacGregor Memorial Trophy. A Six Inch Waterford Crystal Bowl set on a Base, offered by the<br />

<strong>Cairn</strong> Terrier Club of Greater Detroit for competition at its annual <strong>Specialty</strong> Show. For permanent<br />

possession, the memorial trophy must be won three times by the same owner, but not necessarily at<br />

consecutive shows. A Woodbury Pewter Bowl will be given to commemorate the win.<br />

Veteran Sweepstakes is open to all <strong>Cairn</strong> Terriers 7 years and older. Champions of Record are<br />

eligible. <strong>Dog</strong>s entered in Veteran Sweepstakes do NOT have to be entered in a regular class. The<br />

entry fee is $16. If the dog is also entered in other classes, all entries for that dog shall be on a<br />

single form. The Veteran Sweepstakes entry must be noted on the entry form under ‘Additional<br />

Classes’. Veteran Sweepstakes will be judged after Puppy Sweepstakes and before Regular<br />

Classes.<br />

From US-23 headed north: Take US-23 north to I-94 west. Exit at Exit #172 (Jackson<br />

Road). The Best Western is less than 1/4 mile on the right.<br />

From I-94 headed east: Take I-94 east to Exit #172 (Ann Arbor). As you come off the exit<br />

it will merge directly on to Jackson Road. The Best Western is approximately 100 yards on<br />

the left.<br />

From I-94 headed west: Take I-94 west to Exit 172 (Jackson Road). Turn left at the traffic<br />

light on to Jackson Road. The Best Western is less than 1/4 mile on the right.<br />

TO THE SHOW SITE (Ann Arbor <strong>Dog</strong> Training Club) -<br />

Turn left out of the parking lot and head east to Maple Road (you will pass under I-94<br />

expressway). Turn left on Maple Road to M-14, take M-14 east to US-23 north (towards<br />

Flint). Take US-23 to the North Territorial Road exit. Turn right and head east on North<br />

Territorial Road until you reach the railroad tracks and Carter Lumber Co. The entry drive<br />

to the show site (A.A.D.T.C) is on your left just past the lumber company.<br />

SHOW REGULATIONS - Please Read<br />

- Hotels are becoming increasingly difficult to obtain. Please respect these premises<br />

and their staff. The hotel requires all dogs be caged at all times in the guest room.<br />

- Please put plastic under your crates in your room. Do not groom in any guest<br />

room.<br />

- All trophies must be claimed the day of the show - none will be mailed. The club<br />

reserves the right to substitute unavailable prizes with ones of equal or greater<br />

value.<br />

- Exercise pens will be allowed at the discretion of the Show Committee.<br />

- Failure to comply with Show Committee rules regarding treatment of guest rooms<br />

and show site will be subject to an Event Committee Hearing and AKC discipline.<br />

Telegraph, Telephone and Unsigned Entries Cannot Be Accepted. Entries Not On Official AKC Entry Forms<br />

and Photocopies of Entry Forms without Agreement and Rules on the reverse side are NOT ACCEPTABLE.<br />

made as soon as practical with identification cards. The person accompanying a dog must show tickets of<br />

admission and identification before the dog will be received. Should acknowledgement not be received by the<br />

Entries may be accompanied by a cover sheet stating the number of pages, what show(s) and how many dogs per<br />

show. Entries received by fax MUST have entry fees paid simultaneously and prior to the closing date and time, via<br />

PayPal. Funds must be transferred either by credit card or bank transfer before this time or entries will not be<br />

accepted.<br />

Entries may be accompanied by a statement of the number of entry forms attached, what show(s) and how many<br />

dogs per show. Entries received by Email MUST have entry fees paid simultaneously and prior to the closing date<br />

and time, via PayPal. Funds must be transferred either by credit card or bank transfer before this time or entries<br />

will not be accepted.<br />

Make All Checks and Money Orders payable to <strong>Specialty</strong> <strong>Dog</strong> <strong>Shows</strong> in U.S. funds only. Please send only<br />

checks or money orders; the Secretary assumes no responsibility for cash sent through the mail. Tabulate carefully.<br />

Due to the cost of processing, no refunds under $5.00 will be made.<br />

A $1.50 AKC Event Service Fee and a $.50 Recording Fee will be required for each dog entered at any Licensed<br />

or Member club show. These Event Service and Recording fees are to be collected by the Show-giving club and<br />

paid to the American Kennel Club. If a dog is entered in more than one class in the show, these Fees are to be<br />

collected on the first entry only. (American Kennel Club Rule, Chapter 11, Section 2.)<br />

No entry shall be made and no entry shall be accepted which specifies any conditions as to its acceptance.<br />

Entry Fees shall not be refunded in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, excused by Veterinarian or<br />

Judge, or barred from competition by action of the event’s Show Committee. If because of riots, wars, strikes, civil<br />

disturbances, national emergencies, health emergencies, and the dictates of law enforcement or of the owner(s) of<br />

the grounds and/or facilities or other acts beyond the control of the management it is impossible to open or to<br />

complete the show, no refund of entry fee will be made. Extreme weather conditions, such as, but not limited to<br />

snow storms, hurricanes, lightning, extreme heat, heavy rains, or other circumstances including but not limited to,<br />

the condition of the facilities or grounds and/or the ingress and egress from the grounds, must be considered for<br />

the health and safety of the dogs, exhibitors and spectators. The well-being of dogs, exhibitors and spectators is of<br />

paramount importance and, in the event it is necessary to cancel or stop the show before completion, no refund of<br />

entry will be made.<br />

Post-dated Checks and Returned Checks do not constitute a valid entry fee. The Show Secretary will add a<br />

collection fee to the amount of each returned check.<br />

No refund for duplicate entries. Every effort will be made to find duplicate entries, however, if an entry has been<br />

processes, no refund will be made.<br />

An Administrative fee of $2.00 will be withheld from all refunds for entries cancelled prior to the closing of entries.<br />

Errors on Entry Blanks. Owners are responsible for errors in making out entry forms, whoever may make such errors,<br />

and no entry fee will be refunded in the event of such errors or cancellation of entries after the published closing date.<br />

<strong>Dog</strong>s may arrive any time prior to their scheduled time of judging. <strong>Dog</strong>s not required for further judging will be excused.<br />

Judges will not wait for any dog holding up a class. Owners or agents alone are responsible for the presence<br />

of their dogs in the judging ring when their classes are called to be judges.<br />

All dogs present must be held on leash or confined to their crates except when being judged or when in the<br />

exercising ring.<br />

Class Cash Prizes will be paid in the ring to the person showing the dog. Claims for prize money must be<br />

made in the ring before the judging of that breed is over, and the Show Secretary’s Office advised at once. The<br />

show Secretary and show-giving club disclaim any liability for such prizes after the judging of the breed is over.<br />

No gasoline or diesel generators are permitted inside any building or within 100 feet of any tent in which this<br />

dog show is conducted.<br />

AGREEMENT<br />

I (we) agree that the club holding this event has the right to refuse this entry for cause which the club shall<br />

deem sufficient. In consideration of the acceptance of this entry and of the holding of this event and of the<br />

opportunity to have the dog judged and to win prizes, ribbons or trophies, I (we) agree to hold the AKC, the<br />

event-giving club, their members, directors, governors, officers, agents, superintendents or event secretary and<br />

the owner and/or lessor of the premises and any provider of services that are necessary to hold this event and<br />

any employees or volunteers of the aforementioned parties, and any AKC approved judge judging at this<br />

event, harmless from any claim for loss or injury which may be alleged to have been caused directly or<br />

indirectly to any person or thing by the act of this dog while in or about the event premises or grounds or near<br />

any entrance thereto, and I (we) personally assume all responsibility and liability for any such claim; and I (we)<br />

further agree to hold the aforementioned parties harmless from any claim for loss, injury or damage to this dog.<br />

Additionally, I (we) hereby assume the sole responsibility for and agree to indemnify, defend and save the<br />

1. (Variety) If you are entering a dog of a breed in which there are varieties for show purposes,<br />

please designate the particular variety you are entering. i.e. Cocker Spaniel (solid color black, ASCOB, particolor).<br />

Beagles (not exceeding 13 in.; over 13 in. but not exceeding 15 in.) Dachshunds (longhaired, smooth,<br />

wirehaired). Collies (rough, smooth). Bull Terriers (colored, white). Manchester Terriers (standard, toy). Chihuahuas<br />

(smooth coat, long coat). English Toy Spaniels (King Charles & Ruby, Blenheim & Prince Charles). Poodles (toy,<br />

miniature, standard).<br />

2. The following categories of dogs may be entered and shown in Best of Breed competition. <strong>Dog</strong>s<br />

that are Champions of Record and dogs, which, according to their owner’s records, have completed the<br />

requirements for a championship, but whose championships are unconfirmed. The showing of unconfirmed<br />

Champions in Best of Breed competition is limited to a period of 90 days from the date of the show where the<br />

dog completed the requirements for a championship.<br />

3. (Event Class) Consult the classification in this premium list. If the event class in which you are<br />

entering your dog is divided, then, in addition to designating the class, specify the particular division of the class<br />

in which you are entering your dog i.e., age division, color division, weight division.<br />

4. A dog must be entered in the name of the person who actually owned it at the time entries for an<br />

event closed. If a registered dog has been acquired by a new owner it must be entered in the name of its new<br />

owner in any event for which entries closed after the date of acquirement, regardless of whether the new<br />

owner has received the registration certificate indicating that the dog is recorded in his name. State on entry<br />

form whether transfer application has been mailed to AKC (For complete rule refer to Chapter 11, Section 3).<br />

AGREEMENT<br />

I (we) agree that the club holding this event has the right to refuse this entry for cause which the club shall<br />

deem sufficient. In consideration of the acceptance of this entry and of the holding of this event and of the<br />

opportunity to have the dog judged and to win prizes, ribbons or trophies, I (we) agree to hold the AKC, the<br />

event-giving club, their members, directors, governors, officers, agents, superintendents or event secretary and<br />

the owner and/or lessor of the premises and any provider of services that are necessary to hold this event and<br />

any employees or volunteers of the aforementioned parties, and any AKC approved judge judging at this<br />

event, harmless from any claim for loss or injury which may be alleged to have been caused directly or<br />

indirectly to any person or thing by the act of this dog while in or about the event premises or grounds or near<br />

any entrance thereto, and I (we) personally assume all responsibility and liability for any such claim; and I (we)<br />

further agree to hold the aforementioned parties harmless from any claim for loss, injury or damage to this dog.<br />

Additionally, I (we) hereby assume the sole responsibility for and agree to indemnify, defend and save the<br />

aforementioned parties harmless from any and all loss and expense (including legal fees) by reason of the<br />

liability imposed by law upon any of the aforementioned parties for damage because of bodily injuries,<br />

including death at any time resulting therefrom, sustained by any person or persons, including myself<br />

(ourselves), or on account of damage to property, arising out of or in consequence of my (our) participation in<br />

this event, however such injuries, death or property damage may be caused, and whether or not the same may have<br />

been caused or may be alleged to have been caused by the negligence of the aforementioned parties or any of their<br />

employees, agents, or any other persons.<br />

“I (WE) AGREE THAT ANY CAUSE OF ACTION, CONTROVERSY OR CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR<br />

RELATED TO THE ENTRY, EXHIBITION OR ATTENDANCE AT THE EVENT BETWEEN THE AKC AND THE<br />

EVENT-GIVING CLUB (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED IN ITS PREMIUM LIST) AND MYSELF (OUR-<br />

SELVES) OR AS TO THE CONSTRUCTION, INTERPRETATION AND EFFECT OF THIS AGREEMENT<br />

SHALL BE SETTLED BY ARBITRATION PURSUANT TO THE APPLICABLE RULES OF THE AMERICAN<br />

ARBITRATION ASSOCIATION. HOWEVER, PRIOR TO ARBITRATION ALL APPLICABLE AKC BYLAWS,<br />

RULES, REGULATIONS AND PROCEDURES MUST FIRST BE FOLLOWED AS SET FORTH IN THE AKC<br />

CHARTER AND BYLAWS, RULES, REGULATIONS, PUBLISHED POLICIES AND GUIDELINES.”<br />

INSTRUCTIONS<br />

1. (Variety) If you are entering a dog of a breed in which there are varieties for show purposes,<br />

please designate the particular variety you are entering. i.e. Cocker Spaniel (solid color black, ASCOB, particolor).<br />

Beagles (not exceeding 13 in.; over 13 in. but not exceeding 15 in.) Dachshunds (longhaired, smooth,<br />

wirehaired). Collies (rough, smooth). Bull Terriers (colored, white). Manchester Terriers (standard, toy). Chihuahuas<br />

(smooth coat, long coat). English Toy Spaniels (King Charles & Ruby, Blenheim & Prince Charles). Poodles (toy,<br />

miniature, standard).<br />

2. The following categories of dogs may be entered and shown in Best of Breed competition. <strong>Dog</strong>s<br />

that are Champions of Record and dogs, which, according to their owner’s records, have completed the<br />

requirements for a championship, but whose championships are unconfirmed. The showing of unconfirmed<br />

Champions in Best of Breed competition is limited to a period of 90 days from the date of the show where the<br />

dog completed the requirements for a championship.<br />

3. (Event Class) Consult the classification in this premium list. If the event class in which you are<br />

entering your dog is divided, then, in addition to designating the class, specify the particular division of the class<br />

in which you are entering your dog i.e., age division, color division, weight division.<br />

4. A dog must be entered in the name of the person who actually owned it at the time entries for an<br />

event closed. If a registered dog has been acquired by a new owner it must be entered in the name of its new<br />

owner in any event for which entries closed after the date of acquirement, regardless of whether the new<br />

owner has received the registration certificate indicating that the dog is recorded in his name. State on entry<br />

form whether transfer application has been mailed to AKC (For complete rule refer to Chapter 11, Section 3).
