Judge’s Select Awards 

Judge’s Select Awards (Awards of Merit) will be presented after the Best of Breed competition, at 

the discretion of the judge, in no particular order and in any quantity per gender, subject to the 

total limit. Best of Breed, Best of Winners and Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed winners are 

excluded from the selections. The number of Select Awards will be 10% of the total entry for Best

NON-REGULAR CLASSES - SINGLE DOG ENTRIES 

Veteran Classes - for Dogs and Bitches 

• 7 years and older, under 10 years old • 10 years and over 

Parade of Veterans - There will be a Parade of Veterans open to all AKC registered dogs and 

bitches who are at least 7 years old on the day of the show. Entry fee is $16. Indicate ‘Parade of 

Veterans’ on the entry form in the space for additional classes. Each entry will receive a rosette 

imprinted with the dog’s name. All entrants must prepare a short written synopsis of their dog to 

be given to the ring steward which will be read to introduce the dog.

Parade Titleholders - All dogs and bitches that are AKC champions of record or holders of any 

other AKC title are eligible to enter the non-competitive Parade of Titleholders. Entry fee is $16. 

Indicate Parade of Titleholders on the entry form in the space for ‘additional classes’. Each entry 

will receive a rosette imprinted with the dog’s name. All entrants must prepare a short written 

synopsis of their dog to be given to the ring steward which will be read to introduce the dog. 

NON-REGULAR CLASSES - MULTIPLE DOG ENTRIES 

Stud Dog Class - For Stud Dogs and two of their Get. It is not necessary that the Get be under 

the same ownership as that of the Stud Dog. The Stud Dog must be entered in the Stud Dog 

class and shown in the ring with his Get. The Stud Dog may be entered separately in one of the 

Regular or Non-Regular classes at the regular entry fee of $23, with ‘Stud Dog’ class indicated on 

the entry form in the space for additional classes at an additional $16. Or, the Stud Dog may be 

entered in Stud Dog class only for a $23 entry fee. 

The Get MUST be entered in one of the Regular Classes, but there is no additional 

entry fee for them as participants with their sire in this non-regular class. 

The Get only will be judged, on the merits of the Get. While the merits of the Stud Dog are not to 

be considered in the placement of the entry, the Stud Dog must be examined to determine if it has 

a condition that would require its disqualification or excusal under the Dog Show Rules, AKC 

policy or the standard for the Breed. 

Brood Bitch Class - Same as Stud Dog Class except substitute Brood Bitch for Stud Dog, and 

Produce for Get. 

PUPPY SWEEPSTAKES 

JUDGE: Mrs. Carol Somers 

No Champions of record are eligible. Dogs shown in Sweepstakes must also be entered in one of 

the Regular Classes at the regular entry fee and on the regular entry form. Indicate Sweepstakes 

class with the age division in the space provided for ‘Additional Classes’. Sweepstakes entries 

may be shown by anyone in good standing with AKC. Professional handlers may show only dogs 

owned or co-owned by them. 

The first place winner in each Puppy Class shall compete against each other for the 

Best Puppy in Sweepstakes title. The first place winners in each Junior Class shall compete 

against each other for the Best Junior in Sweepstakes title. Then, the Best Puppy in Sweepstakes 

shall compete against the Best Junior in Sweepstakes for Best in Sweepstakes.

PRIZE MONEY 

35% of all entry fees will be retained by the Club for expenses; 

65% of total entry fees will be divided as follows for each class:

Fay MacGregor Memorial Trophy. A Six Inch Waterford Crystal Bowl set on a Base, offered by the 

Cairn Terrier Club of Greater Detroit for competition at its annual Specialty Show. For permanent 

possession, the memorial trophy must be won three times by the same owner, but not necessarily at 

consecutive shows. A Woodbury Pewter Bowl will be given to commemorate the win.

VETERAN SWEEPSTAKES

Veteran Sweepstakes is open to all Cairn Terriers 7 years and older. Champions of Record are 

eligible. Dogs entered in Veteran Sweepstakes do NOT have to be entered in a regular class. The 

entry fee is $16. If the dog is also entered in other classes, all entries for that dog shall be on a 

single form. The Veteran Sweepstakes entry must be noted on the entry form under ‘Additional 

Classes’. Veteran Sweepstakes will be judged after Puppy Sweepstakes and before Regular 

Classes.

Greater Detroit for competition at its Specialty Show only. The memorial trophy must be won three 

times by the same owner, but not necessarily with the same dog, nor at consecutive shows for 

permanent possession. A SP Revere bowl will be provided to commemorate the win. 

The Am./Can. Ch. Zigfeld’s Hardrok “Tafe”’ Cherbo Memorial Trophy mounted on a Wood Base is 

offred by Robert & Cheri Eagleson “Cherbo Cairns” through the Cairn Terrier Club of Greater Detroit 

for competition at its Specialty Show only. The memorial trophy must be won three times by the 

same owner, but not necessarily with the same dog, nor at consecutive shows for permanent

From US-23 headed north: Take US-23 north to I-94 west. Exit at Exit #172 (Jackson 

Road). The Best Western is less than 1/4 mile on the right. 

From I-94 headed east: Take I-94 east to Exit #172 (Ann Arbor). As you come off the exit 

it will merge directly on to Jackson Road. The Best Western is approximately 100 yards on 

the left. 

From I-94 headed west: Take I-94 west to Exit 172 (Jackson Road). Turn left at the traffic 

light on to Jackson Road. The Best Western is less than 1/4 mile on the right. 

TO THE SHOW SITE (Ann Arbor Dog Training Club) - 

Turn left out of the parking lot and head east to Maple Road (you will pass under I-94 

expressway). Turn left on Maple Road to M-14, take M-14 east to US-23 north (towards 

Flint). Take US-23 to the North Territorial Road exit. Turn right and head east on North 

Territorial Road until you reach the railroad tracks and Carter Lumber Co. The entry drive 

to the show site (A.A.D.T.C) is on your left just past the lumber company. 

SHOW REGULATIONS - Please Read 

- Hotels are becoming increasingly difficult to obtain. Please respect these premises 

and their staff. The hotel requires all dogs be caged at all times in the guest room. 

- Please put plastic under your crates in your room. Do not groom in any guest 

room. 

- All trophies must be claimed the day of the show - none will be mailed. The club 

reserves the right to substitute unavailable prizes with ones of equal or greater 

value. 

- Exercise pens will be allowed at the discretion of the Show Committee. 

- Failure to comply with Show Committee rules regarding treatment of guest rooms 

and show site will be subject to an Event Committee Hearing and AKC discipline.

Telegraph, Telephone and Unsigned Entries Cannot Be Accepted. Entries Not On Official AKC Entry Forms 

and Photocopies of Entry Forms without Agreement and Rules on the reverse side are NOT ACCEPTABLE.

made as soon as practical with identification cards. The person accompanying a dog must show tickets of 

admission and identification before the dog will be received. Should acknowledgement not be received by the

PayPal. Funds must be transferred either by credit card or bank transfer before this time or entries will not be 

accepted.

www.specialtydogshows.com. Complete the entry form, scan it, send entry fee via PayPay, then send entry form as 

attachment to your email. 

Entries may be accompanied by a statement of the number of entry forms attached, what show(s) and how many 

dogs per show. Entries received by Email MUST have entry fees paid simultaneously and prior to the closing date 

and time, via PayPal. Funds must be transferred either by credit card or bank transfer before this time or entries 

will not be accepted. 

Make All Checks and Money Orders payable to Specialty Dog Shows in U.S. funds only. Please send only 

checks or money orders; the Secretary assumes no responsibility for cash sent through the mail. Tabulate carefully. 

Due to the cost of processing, no refunds under $5.00 will be made. 

A $1.50 AKC Event Service Fee and a $.50 Recording Fee will be required for each dog entered at any Licensed 

or Member club show. These Event Service and Recording fees are to be collected by the Show-giving club and 

paid to the American Kennel Club. If a dog is entered in more than one class in the show, these Fees are to be 

collected on the first entry only. (American Kennel Club Rule, Chapter 11, Section 2.) 

No entry shall be made and no entry shall be accepted which specifies any conditions as to its acceptance. 

Entry Fees shall not be refunded in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, excused by Veterinarian or 

Judge, or barred from competition by action of the event’s Show Committee. If because of riots, wars, strikes, civil 

disturbances, national emergencies, health emergencies, and the dictates of law enforcement or of the owner(s) of 

the grounds and/or facilities or other acts beyond the control of the management it is impossible to open or to 

complete the show, no refund of entry fee will be made. Extreme weather conditions, such as, but not limited to 

snow storms, hurricanes, lightning, extreme heat, heavy rains, or other circumstances including but not limited to, 

the condition of the facilities or grounds and/or the ingress and egress from the grounds, must be considered for 

the health and safety of the dogs, exhibitors and spectators. The well-being of dogs, exhibitors and spectators is of 

paramount importance and, in the event it is necessary to cancel or stop the show before completion, no refund of 

entry will be made. 

Post-dated Checks and Returned Checks do not constitute a valid entry fee. The Show Secretary will add a 

collection fee to the amount of each returned check. 

No refund for duplicate entries. Every effort will be made to find duplicate entries, however, if an entry has been 

processes, no refund will be made. 

An Administrative fee of $2.00 will be withheld from all refunds for entries cancelled prior to the closing of entries. 

Errors on Entry Blanks. Owners are responsible for errors in making out entry forms, whoever may make such errors, 

and no entry fee will be refunded in the event of such errors or cancellation of entries after the published closing date. 

Dogs may arrive any time prior to their scheduled time of judging. Dogs not required for further judging will be excused. 

Judges will not wait for any dog holding up a class. Owners or agents alone are responsible for the presence 

of their dogs in the judging ring when their classes are called to be judges. 

All dogs present must be held on leash or confined to their crates except when being judged or when in the 

exercising ring. 

Class Cash Prizes will be paid in the ring to the person showing the dog. Claims for prize money must be 

made in the ring before the judging of that breed is over, and the Show Secretary’s Office advised at once. The 

show Secretary and show-giving club disclaim any liability for such prizes after the judging of the breed is over. 

No gasoline or diesel generators are permitted inside any building or within 100 feet of any tent in which this 

dog show is conducted.

AGREEMENT 

I (we) agree that the club holding this event has the right to refuse this entry for cause which the club shall 

deem sufficient. In consideration of the acceptance of this entry and of the holding of this event and of the 

opportunity to have the dog judged and to win prizes, ribbons or trophies, I (we) agree to hold the AKC, the 

event-giving club, their members, directors, governors, officers, agents, superintendents or event secretary and 

the owner and/or lessor of the premises and any provider of services that are necessary to hold this event and 

any employees or volunteers of the aforementioned parties, and any AKC approved judge judging at this 

event, harmless from any claim for loss or injury which may be alleged to have been caused directly or 

indirectly to any person or thing by the act of this dog while in or about the event premises or grounds or near 

any entrance thereto, and I (we) personally assume all responsibility and liability for any such claim; and I (we) 

further agree to hold the aforementioned parties harmless from any claim for loss, injury or damage to this dog. 

Additionally, I (we) hereby assume the sole responsibility for and agree to indemnify, defend and save the 

aforementioned parties harmless from any and all loss and expense (including legal fees) by reason of the 

liability imposed by law upon any of the aforementioned parties for damage because of bodily injuries, 

including death at any time resulting therefrom, sustained by any person or persons, including myself 

(ourselves), or on account of damage to property, arising out of or in consequence of my (our) participation in 

this event, however such injuries, death or property damage may be caused, and whether or not the same may have 

been caused or may be alleged to have been caused by the negligence of the aforementioned parties or any of their 

employees, agents, or any other persons. 

“I (WE) AGREE THAT ANY CAUSE OF ACTION, CONTROVERSY OR CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR 

RELATED TO THE ENTRY, EXHIBITION OR ATTENDANCE AT THE EVENT BETWEEN THE AKC AND THE 

EVENT-GIVING CLUB (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED IN ITS PREMIUM LIST) AND MYSELF (OUR- 

SELVES) OR AS TO THE CONSTRUCTION, INTERPRETATION AND EFFECT OF THIS AGREEMENT 

SHALL BE SETTLED BY ARBITRATION PURSUANT TO THE APPLICABLE RULES OF THE AMERICAN 

ARBITRATION ASSOCIATION. HOWEVER, PRIOR TO ARBITRATION ALL APPLICABLE AKC BYLAWS, 

RULES, REGULATIONS AND PROCEDURES MUST FIRST BE FOLLOWED AS SET FORTH IN THE AKC 

CHARTER AND BYLAWS, RULES, REGULATIONS, PUBLISHED POLICIES AND GUIDELINES.” 

INSTRUCTIONS 

1. (Variety) If you are entering a dog of a breed in which there are varieties for show purposes, 

please designate the particular variety you are entering. i.e. Cocker Spaniel (solid color black, ASCOB, particolor). 

Beagles (not exceeding 13 in.; over 13 in. but not exceeding 15 in.) Dachshunds (longhaired, smooth, 

wirehaired). Collies (rough, smooth). Bull Terriers (colored, white). Manchester Terriers (standard, toy). Chihuahuas 

(smooth coat, long coat). English Toy Spaniels (King Charles & Ruby, Blenheim & Prince Charles). Poodles (toy, 

miniature, standard). 

2. The following categories of dogs may be entered and shown in Best of Breed competition. Dogs 

that are Champions of Record and dogs, which, according to their owner’s records, have completed the 

requirements for a championship, but whose championships are unconfirmed. The showing of unconfirmed 

Champions in Best of Breed competition is limited to a period of 90 days from the date of the show where the 

dog completed the requirements for a championship. 

3. (Event Class) Consult the classification in this premium list. If the event class in which you are 

entering your dog is divided, then, in addition to designating the class, specify the particular division of the class 

in which you are entering your dog i.e., age division, color division, weight division. 

4. A dog must be entered in the name of the person who actually owned it at the time entries for an 

event closed. If a registered dog has been acquired by a new owner it must be entered in the name of its new 

owner in any event for which entries closed after the date of acquirement, regardless of whether the new 

owner has received the registration certificate indicating that the dog is recorded in his name. State on entry
