Photos are welcome in JPEG format. BROOKLYN – Robert Edward Burns, 60, of Brooklyn, passed away peacefully Saturday, Dec. 24, 2011 at home after a lengthy illness with his wife by his side. He was born in Bangor, Maine on April 13, 1951, son of Nancie (Hopkins) Burns of Wilton, N.H. and the late Arthur E. Burns. He was the husband of Susan M. (Lafreniere) Burns. They were married in Hollis, Maine on July 23, 2000. Besides his wife and his mother, he is survived by his children, Jennifer Boudrieau and husband Mark, Jessica Granger and husband Ted, Bryant Burns and wife Jennifer and Brittni Desmarais and husband Andrew, all of New Hampshire; two stepsons, Sgt. First Class Christopher Weaver of Florida and Patrick Weaver and wife Jessica of Connecticut; a brother, James Burns and wife Jill of Wilton, N.H.; a sister, Christine STURBRIDGE — Ernie Chapdelaine, 73, of Park Avenue, passed away Saturday, Dec. 24, 2011, in the Life Care Center of Auburn, after an illness. He leaves his wife of 52 years, Elizabeth F. “Sis” (Snow) Chapdelaine; two daughters, Debra A. McDonald and her husband David of Brookfield and Laurie J. Spizzuoco and her husband Joseph of Charlton; a brother, William Chapdelaine of Webster; two sisters, Dorothy Morell of Webster and Kathleen Sanchas of Woodstock, Conn.; three grandchildren, Jessica McDonald and her partner Michael Garcia, Lizzy Proulx, and Eric Proulx; a great-granddaughter, Myah Garcia and many nieces and nephews. BELLEVUE, Wash. — David Raymond Plantier, 59, died Nov. 3, 2011, the result of complications of diabetes and heart disease. For the past three years he called Bellevue home, and also spent time in Simi Valley, Calif. with family. While in Washington he enjoyed being with cousin Gary Szeredy, attending sporting events, boating around Lake Washington, meeting people and sharing his love of good food. The son of the late Darlene (Szeredy) and Raymond “Pete” Plantier, he was born May 15, 1952, Day Kimbal Hospital in Putnam, Conn., and lived in Danielson, Conn. He moved with his family to the San Fernando Valley in the mid-1950s, and spent most of his life there in Pacoima, Sun Valley and Granada Hills. He also lived in Saugus and later in North Hollywood and Valley Village. He was a graduate of California State University, Stanislaus in Turlock. For many years he worked with his father as a painting contractor and later became manager of Catalina Paint in the San WILLIMANTIC — Mariel Rivera, died suddenly Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2011 in Meriden. She was the beloved nine-month-old daughter of Joel and Marian (Miller) Rivera of Brook Street, Willimantic. Mariel was born March 4, 2011 in Putnam. Mariel leaves in addition to her mother and father, three sisters, Kayley Asberry, Jayda Rivera and Daviana Rivera; her grandparents, Kurt and Linda Moulton of Franklin, Gail and Barry Lichtenthal of Robert E. Burns, 60 Ernie Chapdelaine, 73 QUINEBAUG – Irene B. Duquette, 91, formerly of Walker Drive, died Friday, Dec. 23, 2011 in Westview Health Care in Dayville. Born in Thompson, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Eva (Bergeron) Duquette. Miss Duquette graduated from Tourtellotte Memorial High School and attended the New England Conservatory and Berklee School of Music in Boston. She was a veteran of World War II serving in the Women’s Army Corps and worked in Washington D.C. during the Korean War. She worked at the former Grosvenordale Co., and Clutt Peobody Company in North Grosvenordale. She also worked as a secretary for the American Optical Corporation in Irene B. Duquette. 91 David R. Plantier, 59 Mariel Rivera OBITUARIES Burns of Hollis, Maine; grandchildren, Katelynn Wilson, Makayla Granger, Madison Weaver and Mackenzie Weaver and several nieces, nephews, cousins and his faithful companion, Barrett. He was predeceased by an infant son, Richard Edward Burns, who passed away in 1977. Robert was a Vietnam veteran who served in the U.S. Air Force. He worked for many years as a maintenance supervisor at various paper mills throughout New England. He was an avid NASCAR fan and along with his wife attended many races. He loved to ride his Harley Davidson motorcycle. Funeral services were held Thursday, Dec. 29 in Tillinghast Funeral Home, 433 Main St., Danielson with Full Military Honors. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Donations in his memory may be made to Hospice of Northeastern CT, P.O. Box 632, Putnam, CT 06260. He was born in Webster, the son of the late Leo Edward and Florence (Newman) Chapdelaine. Ernie was a mechanic for Heritage Ford for 13 years and was the manager of the Southbridge Shell Station for 18 years before retiring. He was a member of the Central Mass Wanderers car club. A funeral service was held Wednesday, Dec. 28 in the Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Southbridge, will be held at the convenience of the family. Irene’s deepest love was playing the piano. Irene was a member of the Saint Stephen Women’s Guild, the Quarter Century Club of the American Optical Company, and the Amateur Organ Association International. Irene is survived by her cousins; her caretakers, Leo and Shirley Demers and several close friends. Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, Dec. 31, at 10 a.m. at Saint Stephen Church, Quinebaug. Burial to follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Fernando Valley. Most recently he was owner/president of Natural Energetics, Inc., a natural vitamin company, an undertaking that had him traveling throughout the United States, Canada and abroad. A big man with a contagious laugh, a compassionate spirit and a love for life despite many heartaches and deteriorating health, David was the real thing who could always be counted on to “tell it like it is,” no matter what. He loved nothing better than getting together with those he loved, be it family members or buddies from college. He had one of the biggest hearts on earth and would do anything to help someone in need. An avid sports enthusiast, he loved football, baseball, horseracing and gambling and was a Dodger fan to the very end. David was loved by many and will sorely be missed. He is survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, a godchild and countless friends. Per his wishes, he will be cremated and his ashes scattered at sea. Several future celebrations of his life are planned in Washington, Las Vegas and Southern California. DANIELSON — Donald Gendreau, 75 of Danielson, died Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011 at home. He was the husband of Claire (Harrell) Gendreau. She died July 7, 2002. He was born Nov. 30, 1936 in North Grosvenordale, son of the late Ovide and Anna (Baron) Gendreau. He served in the U.S. Air Force as an airplane mechanic. He was part of the Bay of Pigs invasion in 1961. He was honorably discharged in 1964. In 1967 he took a position with Pratt and Whitney as a Jet Engine Mechanic, he retired in 1999. He made his home in Danielson most of his life. In his later years he became an avid collector of Star Trek Memorabilia. THOMPSON — Scott Philip Lehrer, 53, of Highland Road, Thompson, died Dec. 24, 2011 at home surrounded by his family after a long illness. He was born Oct. 24, 1958 in Webster, Mass. He lived with his parents, Irvin and Nanci Hattin of Thompson. Scott was a Roofing Contractor in the area for over 30 years. He had a great love for the outdoors and nature. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing golf with his son. His dog Macy was his #1 angel. He was known to many by his friendly spirit and his sense of humor. He leaves, in addition to his mother and step-dad, his children, Joshua Lehrer of East DUDLEY — Dorothy E. (Langlois) Orsini, 49, of 18 Oakwood Avenue, Dudley, died Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, 2011 peacefully after a courageous yearlong battle with cancer at her home surrounded by her loved ones. Dorothy was born March 2, 1962 in Webster. She is the daughter of Leopold and Bernadette (Betty) Langlois. She married David Orsini on Sept. 3, 1983 She is survived by her husband of 28 years, David Orsini, two daughters, Jillian Orsini and her husband John Paul-Breault and Rebecca Orsini, and one son, Matthew Orsini, all of Dudley; her father, Leopold and mother Bernadette (Betty) Langlois of Dudley; two sisters, Lynn Bosclaire and her husband Bill of Webster, and Mellissa Gould and her husband Joe of Webster and two brothers, Frank Langlois and his wife Charlene of Thompson, Conn., and Paul Langlois and his wife Maureen of Webster. She was a loving grandmother to her three grandchildren David, Travis and Arianna. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Donald Gendreau, 75 Scott P. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday Jan. 3, in St. Joseph Cemetery, North Grosvenordale, followed Military Honors. Robert O. Lussier, Sr., 76 DILLON, S.C. — Robert O. Lussier, Sr., 76, of Dillon, died on Friday, Dec. 23, 2011 at his home. Robert was born in Cumberland, R.I. He was the son of the late Oliver T. and Dorilda Lavoie Lussier. Robert served his country in the United States Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was employed with Owens-Corning Fiberglass in Rhode Island and later became a self-employed logger until his retirement. In his early years, he loved running Fox Hounds, Coon Hounds and Beagles and was an avid outdoorsman. He was a loving man who will be missed dearly by everyone. Surviving are his children, Karen Whaley of Coventry, R.I., Julie Martin of Lake Worth, PUTNAM — Lucien R. Dubeau, 77, of 207 Sabin St., formerly of Thompson, died Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011, at Regency Heights in Danielson. He leaves two brothers, Leopold Dubeau of Putnam and Raymond Dubeau of Webster; three sisters, Loretta Antonson of Quinebaug and Priscilla LaFleche and Constance Palmarino, both of Southbridge and several nieces and nephews. Lucien was born in Grosvenordale, son of the late Wilfred and Rosalie (Dubois) Dubeau and lived in Grosvenordale most of his life before moving to Putnam. Dorothy E. Orsini, 49 Lucien R. Lussier, Jr. of Darlington, S.C. and Marie Lussier of Winter Haven, Fla.; his brothers, Francis Lussier of Cumberland, R.I. and Arthur Lussier of the Philippines; his sisters, Doris Scott of Pascoag, R.I., Anita Renaud of Cumberland, R.I. and Barbara Cornell of North Smithfield, R.I.; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Small Lussier, and by his sisters, Pauline Provoyeur and Antoinette Collins. The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 30, at Brown Funeral Home in Oakland, R.I. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick’s Church in Harrisville, R.I. After services, Mr. Lussier will be buried with his wife of 49 years in Harrisville. Dorothy was a wonderful wife, mother and “Mammy” with a heart of gold, and a smile that would light up a room. She graduated from Shepherd Hill Regional High School, Class of 1980. She received a two-year secretarial certification from the Salter School, her bachelor’s degree from Nichols College and a CPCU certification from the CPCU society. She was employed for the past 22 years as a Product Manager for Commerce Insurance. Dorothy was a member of St. Louis Church and a member of the CPCU Society. She loved to spend time with her family and friends and her grandchildren. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Thursday, Dec. 28, in St. Louis Church, 14 Lake St., Webster. GROSVENORDALE – Jeanne (Bellerose) Ravenelle, 79, of Red Bridge Road, died Friday, Dec. 23, 2011 in St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester, Mass. She was the loving wife of the late Louis A. Ravenelle. Born in Putnam, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mignonne (Metras) Bellerose. Jeanne attended Putnam Catholic Academy. She worked as a bobbin winder for Belding Hemminway for 35 years. She enjoyed camping at the Hideaway Cove Campground in Killingly. She also enjoyed reading, word puzzles, and writing poetry. She especially loved her dog “Lil’ Bum.” Jeanne is survived by her son, Michael Ravenelle and his wife Kasey of Princeton, Texas; her daughters, Donna Bonds and her husband Rusty of Alto, N.M., Kathy Ravenelle of Putnam, Ann Dillard and her husband Juan of Seagraves, Texas; her brothers, Normand Bellerose and his wife Gloria of Pioria, Ariz., Paul Bellerose and his wife Juanita of Milton, Fla., Richard “Dickie” Bellerose and his wife Linda of Yelm, Wash., and Bernard Bellerose and his wife Cindy of Thompson; her sister, Rita Mailloux of N. Sr. Mildred Durocher, DHS, 96 PUTNAM — Sr. Mildred Durocher, DHS, 96, a member of the Daughters of the Holy Spirit, died on Friday, Dec. 23, 2011 in Holy Spirit Health Care Center where she had been in residence since 2002. Born Mildred Marie Durocher on Nov. 21, 1915 in Providence, R.I., she was the daughter of the late Moise and Eva (Roy) Durocher. After nurses’ training at Hartford Hospital in Hartford, she entered religious life in 1935 and made her religious profession on August 23, 1938 at the Motherhouse in St. Brieuc, France. She was then known as Sr. Agathe de Jesus. Sr. Mildred became a visiting nurse in Fall River, Mass. and later served in a nursing capacity in Providence, R.I., and at St. Clare Home in Newport, R.I. She also taught in elementary schools in Leominster, Mass.; Fairfield, and Swanton, Vt. In 1975, she served as dietician at Holy Spirit Convent, Bridgeport, until her retirement in 1985. Survivors include a sister-in-law, Rita Durocher of Chagrin Falls, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews; grandnieces and grandnephews. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Tuesday, Dec. 27, at the Provincial House chapel followed by burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Putnam.
