Instructions:<br />

Row 1: Make 5ch, 1dtr in 1st ch,<br />

7ch, turn (1 lp).<br />

Row 2: 1dc in lp, 3ch, 1dtr in same<br />

lp, 7ch, turn (2 lps).<br />

Row 3: 1dc in 1st lp, 5ch, 1dc in<br />

next lp, 3ch, 1dtr in same lp, 7ch,<br />

turn (3 lps).<br />

Row 4: 1dc in 1st lp, (5ch, 1dc in<br />

next lp) twice, 3ch, 1dtr in last lp,<br />

7ch, turn (4 lps).<br />

Row 5: 1dc in 1st lp, (5ch, 1dc in<br />

next lp) 3 times, 3ch, 1dtr in last lp,<br />

7ch, turn (5 lps).<br />

Repeat row 5 until you have 40<br />

rows - remembering to add 1 set of<br />

(5ch, 1 dc in next lp) for each row.<br />

{ie: Row 6: (5ch, 1dc in next lp) 4<br />

times, Row 7: (5ch, 1dc in next lp)<br />

5 times, etc.}<br />

Edging:<br />

Turn work sideways, 5ch, 1dc in<br />

1st lp, *(3ch, 1dc in next lp), repeat<br />

from * all the way down the side<br />

edge, including bottom lp; work<br />

3ch, then 1dc in same bottom lp<br />

but on the other side of the starting<br />

thread then, ** (3ch, 1dc in next lp)<br />

repeat from ** all the way up the<br />

other side, including last lp, 1ch, 1tr<br />

into same lp, then work a row of dc<br />

evenly across the top of the shawl.<br />

Fasten off and sew in all ends.<br />

Cut 45-50cm lengths of yarn and<br />

attach 4-5 strands evenly spaced<br />

along both sides for fringing.<br />

Tip: The number of rows should<br />

always equal the number of loops<br />

in that row.<br />
