LACE BLANKET (beginner)
• 1 x 100g ball ‘Moda Vera’ Togari
• 6 x 50g balls 8 ply yarn that matches the required tension can
be used for this pattern
• A pair 4.00mm Knitting Needles or size that gives correct
tension/gauge
• A 5.00mm Circular Needle or size that gives correct tension/
gauge
• A yarn needle
Measurements:
Width (approx) 90 cm
Length (approx) 90 cm
Tension:
21 sts and 29 rows to 10 cm over stocking st, using 4.00mm
Knitting Needles and 8 ply yarn. Note - Correct tension/gauge is
essential for a successful handknit.
Abbreviations:
St/s - stitch/es, K - Knit, P - Purl, RS - right side, WS - wrong side,
stocking st - 1 row K, 1 row P, beg - begin/ning, patt - pattern,
rep - repeat, yfwd - yarn forward to make a st, sl - slip, K2tog -
knit 2 sts together, incl - inclusive, cont - continue, foll - follow/
ing, alt - alternate, cont - continue.
Special notes:
We recommend that you do not pull the yarn from the centre of
the ball - unwind it from the outside and it will be easier to work
with. To join this yarn, just overlap the two yarns by about 10 cm
and knit them both for 2 to 3 sts.
Casting On - Unfold the tape and find the open edge of the yarn
(not the bound/selvage edge). You will see large eyelets in the
tape. You will be using the eyelets along the open edge to knit
into and as your knitting yarn. See the image showing correct
eyelets to knit into.
To cast on, you simply insert the needle into an eyelet approx 3
cm from the end of your yarn to create the first stitch. To create
the next stitch, insert the needle front to back into the next eyelet
along the edge of the tape, skipping the half eyelet in between.
Repeat this process to cast on each stitch.
Knitting - Insert your right needle into the stitch as if to knit.
Unfold the tape and find the open edge. Use the next eyelet along
the open edge as your knitting yarn and complete your stitch.
Casting off - Knit 2 sts in the above manner. Lift the first st over the
second and off the needle. Work in this way across the sts until one
remains. Using a yarn needle thread part of the tape through the
last st and tighten to cast off.
