In the n ame of God, Amen, I, Amos Fortune of J affrey in the county of Cheshire an d St ate of
New H ampshire, T anner, being we ak in body but of sound an d perfect mind an d memory,
blessed be Almighty God for the s ame, do m ake an d publish this my l ast will an d test ament in
m anner an d form following:

First, I give an d beque ath to Vilot my beloved wife al the improvements an d profits of my re al
est ate during her n atur al life to be ordered an d disposed at the discre ation of my executor
whom I sh all here after n ame.
Secondly, I order my executor to to settle an d disch arge al the just debts an d dem ands th at
l ays ag ainst my est ate at my dece ase at such time or times as sh all ap pe ar to him to be necess
ary an d to make up of my person al est ate for th at purpose as far as it will go tow ard p aying
the s ame.
Thirdly, I order my executor at his discretion an d when it ap pe ars to him to an swer the best
purpose to s atisfy the just dem ands th at l ays ag ainst me an d likewise for the support an d m ainten
ance of the s aid Vilot, to sell my re al est ate together with the tany ard an d al the tools an d
implements I have for the tanning an d currying business an d also my tools an d utensils for
husb andry, an d th at my executor either reserve a room an d ac commod ations for the s aid Vilot
in my dwelling house, or in the currying shop, or otherwise to build her a sm all house an d
m ake it convenient for her as he sh all see fit, an d the s aid Vilot have the improvement of the
proceeds of s aid est ate after my debts are paid under the c are an d gu ardi anship of my s aid
executor.
Fourthly, I give an d beque ath to the s aid Vilot the use an d improvement of al my household
furniture (except the articles here after n amed) during her n atur al life, but not to sell or dispose
of an y one article of the s ame without the order or liberty of my executor.
Fifthly, I give an d beque ath to Celyndi a Fortune my ad opted daughter, the bed she now
improves together with the furniture thereof, an d a foot wheel an d a loom an d also a home in
the house with the s aid Vilot while she rem ains single, an d th at the s aid Vilot contribute to her
necessitys as she may have ab ility to do.
Sixthly, I order my executor aft er my dece ase an d aft er the dece ase of s aid Vilot my beloved
wife th at handsome gr ave stones be erected to each of us if their is an y est ate left for th at purpose.
Seventhly, I further order my s aid executor th at after my dece ase an d the dece ase of the s aid
Vilot th at if their is an y rem ainder of my est ate, th at he give a h andsome present of the s ame to
the Church of Christ in this town, an d the rem aining p art if an y their be, he give as a present
for the support of the school in school house No. eight in this town.
And l astly, I hereby nomin ate an d ap point Ele azer Spofford of Jaffrey afores aid gentlem an the
sole executor of this my l ast will an d test ament, hereby revoking al former wills by me m ade,
ratifying an d confirming this an d no other to by my l ast will an d test ament.
