Instructional Process at NIOS
In NIOS, you have to learn on your own i.e., you are a self-learner. You can learn at your
own pace and convenience. The instructional process comprises of studying self-instructional
print materials, listening and viewing audio and video programmes, attending personal contact
programmes at the Study Centre, and doing tutor marked assignments.
3. For Admission through Online Stream-I
3.1 Self Instructional Material
The specially designed printed self instructional material for different subjects
alongwith other support materials will be provided to you through post.
NOTE
Your course fee includes
the price of the study
materials. Do not pay
any extra money for
the same.
3.2 Personal Contact Programmes (PCPs)
You must give your correct residence address in the application form. For
undelivered parcel of study material, you shall be required to pay Rs. 100/- (Rupees
One hundred only) by way of Demand Draft in favour of the Secretary, NIOS
payable at Delhi for re-despatch of study material at your residence address to
the Deputy Director, Material Distribution Unit, C/o CWC, G.T. Karnal Road,
R.P. Bagh, Delhi -110033.
Upto a maximum of 30 PCP classes as per NIOS norms, will be
organised per subject for theory and 5 additional for subjects having
practicals on face to face basis, generally on weekends and holidays, in
the first year of admission, by the AIs (Study Centres).
First PCP will start on 2nd Sunday of October i.e., 9th October 2011 at 9.30 am. for Ist Block of
admission and on Ist Sunday of April i.e., 6th April, 2012 at 9.30 a.m. for IInd Block of admission
respectively at your AI and thereafter on every Saturday and Sunday as per the time table prepared
by the Study Centre.
These contact classes are not meant for covering the curriculum. DO NOT EXPECT FULL TIME
CLASSROOM TEACHING as in formal education system. The teachers are there to help and guide you
with regard to your difficulties. It would be in your interest to attend all the contact classes. Attendance
in five practical classes is compulsory.
3.3 Audio and Video Programmes
NIOS has produced several audio and video programmes of academic, vocational and general nature to
supplement your learning.
NIOS video programmes are being telecast nation-wide :
(i) On Doordarshan (DD-I) every Friday from 05.02 a.m. to 05.25 a.m.,
(ii) On the Educational Channel ‘Gyan Darshan’ everyday from 6.30 p.m. to 7.00 p.m.
NOTE
Do not pay any extra
amount to the AI for
attending PCP classes.
NIOS audio programmes are being broadcast on FM channel - Gyan Vani 105.6 MHz every Friday,
Saturday and Sunday from 8.30 a.m. to 9.00 a.m. and repeat broadcast from 4.30 p.m. to 5.00 p.m.
Sale of Audio/Video Cassettes & CD’s
The audio and video programmes in most of the topics are now available on Audio Cassettes and VCDs
for sale @ Rs.40/-per audio cassette and @ Rs.100/- per VCD. The list of the topics is available on
NIOS website under Media. You can buy these programmes from : The Deputy Director, Material
