Ingrow Loco
Ingrow Loco is the Museum and Workshop of
the Bahamas Locomotive Society. It tells a story
of the steam locomotive and the people involved
in its manufacture, operation, and maintenance.
FREE admission with a WVR Day Rover ticket.
The Museum exhibition has been created so
you can explore how the steam locomotive
functions, and how it was built - from the
drawing board to the workshop and even to the publicity
photograph. You will also discover how the steam locomotive has
fascinated generations of children and adults alike through playing
with model railways and even the real thing!
Ingrow Museum of Rail Travel
The Museum of Rail Travel is the award-winning Museum
of the Vintage Carriages Trust. It is home to a Collection of
beautifully-restored historic railway carriages, which have been
used in over 60 television programmes and fi lms. Visitors may
sit in the carriages and be transported back in time by the
sound presentations, which help to bring the past to life. There
are video presentations, as well as numerous signs, posters and
exhibits within the Museum to keep you lost in time for hours.
Would you like to become a volunteer on KWVR?
We are very proud
to say that we have
operated and managed
the Railway with qualifi ed
volunteers since 1968,
running Heritage trains
every weekend and daily in
school holidays. It takes up
to 50 volunteers to run the Railway on every operating day:
staff on the stations; the guards; the signalman; the footplate
crew (Driver, Fireman and Cleaner); plus those on Civil
Maintenance duties; the volunteers staffi ng and stocking the
shops and buffets; and the administrative and engineering staff
who you probably won’t even see during your visit.
On the day, there is a Driver and Fireman, together they
control the steam locomotive. There may also be a Diesel train
in use, which also needs a Driver. Why not sit behind him and
watch how he uses the controls along the line?
