Homestart<br />
Provides informal and friendly support for families<br />
with young children. Homestart volunteers visit<br />
families who are finding it difficult to cope,<br />
whatever the reason, in their own home. They can<br />
offer a listening ear, help with the children, provide<br />
practical assistance and support parents to use local<br />
services and resources.<br />
Their free information line on 0800 068 6368 will<br />
put you in touch with your local group.<br />
Pre-<strong>School</strong> Learning <strong>All</strong>iance<br />
Provides a support network for parents and all<br />
early years settings, including voluntary-run parent<br />
& toddler groups. Advisers can help with training,<br />
quality assurance, advocacy and provide information<br />
on all aspects of <strong>Early</strong> <strong>Years</strong> provision.<br />

Support for Carers<br />
A carer is somebody who looks after, or helps to<br />
look after, a relative or friend, who because of their<br />
disability or illness cannot manage at home without<br />
help. A carer can be a neighbour, parent, brother<br />
or sister. Carers’ Association services include free<br />
and confidential advice and information, emotional<br />
support & services for young carers such as youth<br />
clubs.<br />
