Provides informal and friendly support for families
with young children. Homestart volunteers visit
families who are finding it difficult to cope,
whatever the reason, in their own home. They can
offer a listening ear, help with the children, provide
practical assistance and support parents to use local
services and resources.
Their free information line on 0800 068 6368 will
put you in touch with your local group.
Pre-School Learning Alliance
Provides a support network for parents and all
early years settings, including voluntary-run parent
& toddler groups. Advisers can help with training,
quality assurance, advocacy and provide information
on all aspects of Early Years provision.

Support for Carers
A carer is somebody who looks after, or helps to
look after, a relative or friend, who because of their
disability or illness cannot manage at home without
help. A carer can be a neighbour, parent, brother
or sister. Carers’ Association services include free
and confidential advice and information, emotional
support & services for young carers such as youth
clubs.
