Hallo, gleich beginnt der erste Teil der Englisch-Abschlussprüfung für die Hauptschule: der Hörverstehens-Test.
Bevor ihr den Text zum ersten Mal hört, habt ihr zwei Minuten Zeit, die Fragen und Aufgaben
zu lesen. Insgesamt werdet ihr den Text zweimal hören.

You are going to hear an interview between
Janet Lee and two young people on the beach.
JANET: America’s coast is famous for surfing,
but Australia is catching up. More and
more tourists from all over the world are
coming to Australia to go surfing. Here I
am at Bondi Beach near Sydney and I’ve
found two young people who are here on
holiday.
Hi, my name is Janet Lee from Let’s Surf.
How do you like the beach, Hans?
HANS: I love the beach. We don’t have many
beaches in Germany. And at the moment
it’s really cold there. I first surfed in America
on holiday with my girlfriend. This
year we wanted to see something different.
JANET: How long are you here?
HANS: For four weeks. We’re spending two
weeks in Sydney and then travelling
around for two weeks.
JANET: Why do you like surfing so much?
HANS: It’s a wild sport. When you’re out there
on the waves, you feel like a bird that can
fly.
JANET: Does your girlfriend surf, too?
HANS: Yeah, early in the morning when the
beach is not so full. During the day she

likes to cycle or just chill and read a book
on the beach.
JANET: So, our other guest is Mike, from England.
Did you come out here with your
friends?
MIKE: No, actually I didn’t. We met here on
the beach. The beach is the best place to
meet new people. Everyone here is so
friendly.
JANET: Is surfing a new hobby for you?
MIKE: No, I’ve been surfing since I was a kid.
My dad took me out and showed me the
basics. I live in Cornwall in England. You
can surf there, too. Now I love surfing
more than anything else. The beaches in
Australia are fantastic. The water is clean
and the beaches are really big.
JANET: Isn’t it expensive to fly to Australia
when you can surf at home?
MIKE: Not really. It’s a trip of a lifetime. The
flights are cheaper than you think and at
least the people here speak English.
There’s lots of stuff to do when you want
to get away from the beach. So far though,
I can’t get enough of the surf and my new
friends.
JANET: Thanks for the interview. Have a good
time.
