You are unique!
Think what a remarkable, unduplicatable,
and miraculous thing it is
to be you! Of all the people who
have come and gone on the earth, since
the beginning of time, not ONE of them
is like YOU!
No one who has ever lived or is
to come has had your combination of
abilities, talents, appearance, friends,
acquaintances, burdens, sorrows and
opportunities.
No one’s hair grows exactly the way
yours does. No one’s finger prints are like
yours. No one has the same combination
of secret inside jokes and family expressions
that you know.
The few people who laugh at all the
same things you do, don’t sneeze the way
you do. No one prays about exactly the
same concerns as you do. No one is loved
by the same combination of people that
love you—NO ONE!
No one before, no one to come. YOU
ARE ABSOLUTELY UNIQUE!
Enjoy that uniqueness. You do not
A
mouse looked through the crack in
the wall to see the farmer and his
wife open a package. “What food
might this contain?” the mouse wondered.
He was devastated to discover it was a
mousetrap.
Retreating to the farmyard, the mouse
proclaimed the warning: “There is a
mousetrap in the house! There is a mousetrap
in the house!”
The chicken clucked and scratched,
raised her head and said, “Mr. Mouse,
I can tell this is a grave
concern to you, but it
is of no consequence
to me. I cannot be bothered
by it.”
The mouse turned to
the pig and told him, “There is
a mousetrap in the house! There
is a mousetrap in the house!” The
pig sympathized, but said, “I am so
very sorry, Mr. Mouse, but there is nothing
I can do about it but pray. Be assured
you are in my prayers.”
The mouse turned to the cow and said,
have to pretend in order to seem more
like someone else. You weren’t meant to
be like someone else. You do not have to
lie to conceal the parts of you that are not
like what you see in anyone else.
You were meant to be different.
Nowhere ever in all of history will the
same things be going on in anyone’s
mind, soul and spirit as are going on in
yours right now.
If you did not exist, there would
be a hole in creation, a gap in history,
something missing from the plan for
humankind.
Treasure your uniqueness. It is a gift
given only to you. Enjoy it and share it!
No one can reach out to others in
the same way that you can. No one can
speak your words. No one can convey
your meanings. No one can comfort with
your kind of comfort. No one can bring
your kind of understanding to
another person.
No one can be cheerful
and lighthearted and joyous in
The mouse trap
“There is a mousetrap in the house! There
is a mousetrap in the house!” The cow said,
“Wow, Mr. Mouse. I’m sorry for you, but
it’s no skin off my nose.”
So, the mouse returned to the house,
head down and dejected, to face the
farmer’s mousetrap alone.
That very night a sound was heard
throughout the house – like the sound of a
mousetrap catching its prey. The farmer’s
wife rushed to see what was caught. In
the darkness, she did not
see it was a venomous
snake
whose
tail the
your way. No one can smile your smile.
No one else can bring the whole unique
impact of you to another human being.
Share your uniqueness. Let it be free
to flow out among your family and friends
and people you meet in the rush and
clutter of living wherever you are. That
gift of yourself was given you to enjoy
and share. Give yourself away!
See it! Receive it!
trap had caught. The snake bit the farmer’s
wife. The farmer rushed her to the hospital
and she returned home with a fever.
Everyone knows you treat a fever
with fresh chicken soup, so the farmer
took his hatchet to the farmyard for the
soup’s main ingredient. But his wife’s
sickness continued, so friends and neighbors
came to sit with her around the
clock. To feed them, the farmer butchered
the pig. The farmer’s wife did not get
well; she died. Many people came for
her funeral, so the farmer had the cow
slaughtered to provide enough meat for
all of them.
The mouse looked upon it all from
his crack in the wall with great sadness.
So, the next time you hear someone
is facing a problem and think it doesn’t
concern you, remember, when one of us
is threatened, we are all at risk. We are
all involved in this journey called
life. We must keep an eye out for one
another and make an extra effort to
encourage one another. Each of us is
a vital thread in another person’s tapestry.
