Domestic <strong>to</strong>urism expenditure <strong>in</strong> <strong>India</strong> valued at INR2.9 trillion (US$49.8 billion)<br />

<strong>in</strong> 2013, while <strong>in</strong>bound <strong>to</strong>urism expenditure <strong>to</strong>taled INR344.2 billion (US$5.9<br />

billion). As suggested by these figures, domestic <strong>to</strong>urist volumes were higher: 1.2<br />

The <strong>to</strong>tal number of domestic trips <strong>in</strong>creased from 668.8 million <strong>in</strong> 2009 <strong>to</strong> 1.2<br />

billion <strong>in</strong> 2013, at a review-period CAGR of 15.9%, driven by an <strong>in</strong>crease <strong>in</strong> mean<br />
