STM Bulletin 马 来 西 亚 神 学 院 快 讯 (April 2006)
In view of the many happenings in STM, we plan to publish this monthly “STM Bulletin” to
communicate faster with the whole community. 为 了 加 强 STM 群 体 的 联 系 , 我 们 出 版 每 月

STM News 马 来 西 亚 神 学 院 近 况
• Da Vinci Code Seminars 达 文 西 密 码 座 谈 会 (23 & 24 April): Praise the Lord for the good
response both at KL Wesley and STM Seremban. The speaker Rev Dr Gordon Wong of TTC
has done a fantastic presentation and is very well received.
• Forum of Asia Theological Librarians 亚 洲 神 学 院 图 书 馆 管 理 员 论 坛 (19-22 April): About
40 members from various theological schools came and had a very good learning experience.
Miss Christabel Wong, the library staff and many others helped to make it a success!
• Fujian Theological Seminary
Student Study Trip 福 建 神 学 院 访 问
团 (23-26 April): A team of 13
members under the leadership of
Rev Su, the chairperson of Three-
Self Movement of Fujian Province,
visited STM, LCMS Headquarter
and Melaka.
• Field Education Supervisors’ meeting (10 & 11 May; KL and Seremban): Pray for Rev Tee
Heng Peng for the organizing and meaningful discussions by all pastors in the development of
Field Education.
• STM English TEE is launching a new “Youth Ministry: Bridging the Next Generation”
program. The first module “Introduction to Youth Ministry” by Dr Herbert Tan and Team is
on 22-26 May at STM Campus.
• English TEE Certificate in Christian Ministry (Social
Ministry): We launched this special program together with
Malaysian Care. This is the second round of the program, now
with the addition of Bible College of Malaysia. Pray for the
advertisement and potential part-time students who are
involved in various social ministry. The first module “Biblical
Foundations in Social Ministry” is on 28 June – 1 July.

STM Council 马 来 西 亚 神 学 院 董 事 会
• Pray for the Council meeting on 17 May (Wednesday) 3pm. The AGM will be held at 5pm:
new office bearers for 2006-2008 will be elected. Pray also for visions and future
development of STM.
• Curriculum Review Committee, chaired by Rev Tan Jin Huat, is busy preparing the report and
planning for the future. Pray for wisdom and insight.
ATESEA News 东 南 亚 神
学 协 会 近 况
• The ATESEA Exco and Accreditation Commission met on 27-
28 April 2006 in Manila. In view of the many tasks and
developments, the Exco decided to employ an Associate Dean
for SEAGST. The candidate must have a doctoral degree and
at least 5 years of teaching/administrative experience in the
seminary.
• The Accreditation Teams will visit schools in Indonesia in
November 2006. Pray that the schools prepare well for the
challenges.
• Victor, the husband of Dr Sientje Abram-Merentek, had a
heart operation last month. Pray for speedy recovery and
finances.
STM Future Plans 学 院 未 来 展 望
• In search for excellence: The Malaysian Government has just published an initial report on
how to develop public universities to be world class by 2010. Some ideas are also relevant to
theological seminaries: faculty members with doctorate, research capability, post-graduate
studies, input from practitioners (pastors), IT facilities, etc.
• Part-time Faculty members: We are glad to welcome Dr Yee-Von Koh (PhD, Cambridge) to
teach OT courses beginning in June 2006. Pray for Mr Sherman Kuek (PhD candidate, TTC)
teaching Theology courses to complete the dissertation by 2007; Mr Lim Kar Yong (PhD
candidate, OCMS/Wales) in completing his dissertation before the end of the year.
• SEAGST Post-graduate Studies (Master of Theology and Doctor of Theology): Pray for
suitable candidates to pursue studies in STM.
Student Body 学 生 群 体
• Ms Shan Zhi Hong 单 志 红 (China) left on 11 April. Pray for her health and family.
• Canon Jamal Senada (Sarawak) successfully defended his MTheol thesis on 19 April and is
now revising the work.
• Pastor Margaret Chong, the wife of late Rev Norman Sham, together with all the Sabah
alumni sent their warmest greetings to the STM Community. Margaret wanted to thank all of
you for the prayer support and concerns.
The Consecration of Bishop Albert Vun 温 昌 辉 会 督 祝 圣 礼
• Praise the Lord for the service and celebration on 25 April at Kota
Kinabalu. Continue to pray for the new bishop in leading the
Anglican Diocese of Sabah to greater heights! The Anglican Diocese
of Sabah is also an official sponsoring member-church of STM.
