Who are Hard of
Hearing

<strong>Stockton</strong>-on-Tees Borough Council Children,
Education & Social Care Department provides a
service to people of all ages who are hard of
hearing, regardless of age.
The term hard of hearing describes people who
develop and are educated in the hearing world
but lose part or all of their hearing <strong>for</strong> a range of
reasons.
A specialist Social worker <strong>for</strong> people with a
Hearing Impairment works throughout <strong>Stockton</strong>
Borough as part of the Health and Disabilities
Team based in the Council Offices in Billingham.
Provision of <strong>Services</strong> may be provided following
an assessment of needs by a Specialist Social
Worker.
The Department can offer support, advice and
in<strong>for</strong>mation to individuals and their families
about support groups and specialist equipment.
