COURSE DESCRIPTION
Clinical Reviews and Primary Care
Update consists of lectures, discussions,
and workshops on problems of general
interest in various areas of medicine,
surgery, and pediatrics. Medical staff
of Mayo Clinic Jacksonville, University
of Florida, Jacksonville, Florida, and
University of Massachusetts Medical
School and Memorial Hospital will
provide reviews and updates in the
areas of cardiology, dermatology,
endocrinology, gastroenterology,
geriatrics, infectious diseases, internal
medicine, neurology, women’s health,
pediatrics, pulmonary medicine, and
sports medicine.
COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon conclusion of this program,
participants should be able to:
• Describe the components of
metabolic syndrome
• Evaluate and treat hypertriglyceridemia
• Practice stroke prevention
• Identify patients with sleep apnea
• Recognize skin cancer
• Diagnose and treat migraine
headaches
• Evaluate and treat pulmonary
hypertension
• Interpret elevated liver function
tests
• Choose an appropriate cardiac
stress test to evaluate chest pain
• Triage ophthalmologic emergencies

Update is a comprehensive program
for family physicians, general internists,
physician assistants, nurse practitioners,
and registered nurses.

for Continuing Medical Education to
provide continuing medical education
for physicians.
