Serving Those Who Serve
Autumn always brings a buzz of activity
here at MCCS. Starting with the Marine
Corps Exchange’s Designer Month—great
deals and product experts’ visits, we go into the
last few months of the year hard charging like
the Marines we serve. This year is no exception.
Oktoberfest is right around the corner, followed
by the Fall Brawl, the Education & Career Fair,
the Marine Corps Ball, and the holiday season,
for which we have planned some great events!
This month’s magazine focuses on Domestic
Violence Awareness. Our associates at
Marine & Family Services bring this issue
to light beginning on page 8. Marine Corps
Family Team Building takes the lead on the
Thanksgiving Food Basket and Adopt-A-
Family programs; read about these programs on
page 6 and be inspired by the generosity of our
sponsors.
MCCS is gearing up for Oktoberfest on
October 1 and 2—yes, two days this year—held
on the field adjacent to Smith Gym. That event
is followed by the Fall Brawl on October 16
and the Education & Career Fair on October
19. Then, the event of the season: tickets are
on sale for the November 6 Headquarters &
Service Battalion, Headquarters Marine Corps,
Henderson Hall Marine Corps Birthday Ball,
held this year at the Sheraton National Hotel.
This time-honored tradition of celebrating the
birth of the Corps never fails to inspire us here
at MCCS. We have the privilege of serving
Marines, and we celebrate with the same
enthusiasm and sense of honor as they do. A
great privilege, indeed!
Marine Corps Community Services Henderson Hall reaches
Marines and their family members in the National Capital
Region Command. Structured similarly throughout the Marine
Corps, MCCS Henderson Hall comprises Semper Fit, Retail
Operations, Marine and Family Services incorporating Marine Corps
Family Team Building, and Support. Together, we provide qualityof-life
enhancing goods, services, and programs to service members
and their families.

Coming in fall 2011! Artist’s rendering of the new Marine Corps Exchange at
Henderson Hall. The MCX will add 15,000 square feet and renovate for a more
pleasant shopping experience. A Java Café will be added, and the Uniform Shop
