Qualification for The Vivendi Trophy with Severiano Ballesteros teams began at the Alfred Dunhill Championship in December 2010 and will end after the Omega European
Masters in September 2011. The top five players on both the Official World Golf Ranking and The Race to Dubai will qualify for the ten-man teams.
Format:
The event will be a match play competition between two teams of ten players representing (a) Continental Europe and (b) Great Britain and Ireland.
On each of the first two days there will be a series of five fourball matches.
On the third day there will be a series of four greensome and four foursomes matches. On the final day there will be a series of ten singles matches.
Eligibility
Each team will be chosen as follows:
(a) The leading 5 eligible players from the Official World Golf Ranking as of Monday 5th September 2011.
(b) The leading 5 eligible players not otherwise qualified in (a) above from The Race to Dubai at the conclusion of the Omega European Masters (September 5th 2011).
Competition Condition:
Each match will be worth one point (Total 28), with halved matches earning 1/2 point for each team. If there is an overall points tie at the conclusion of the singles matches,
then both Captains will nominate two players from their respective teams to compete in a greensomes sudden death play off until a result is achieved.
First two European Tour Members and any European Tour Members tying for second place, not otherwise exempt, in a cumulative
money list taken from all European Tour events from the BMW PGA Championship up to and including the BMW International
Open, and including the US Open Championship will be exempt for The Open Championship at Royal St George's Standing below.
The first three players and anyone tying for third place, not otherwise exempt, in the top 20 of The Race to Dubai for 2011 on the
