About <strong><strong>SUNY</strong>IT</strong><br />
Founded in 1966, <strong><strong>SUNY</strong>IT</strong>, the State University <strong>of</strong> New York <strong>Institute</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Technology</strong> at Utica/Rome, is <strong>SUNY</strong>’s only<br />
institute <strong>of</strong> technology. More than 2,900 students are enrolled in undergraduate and graduate degree programs in technology<br />
and pr<strong>of</strong>essional studies on the <strong><strong>SUNY</strong>IT</strong> campus, a high-tech learning environment on hundreds <strong>of</strong> acres in Marcy,<br />
N.Y. Our students come from all over New York, many other states and more than 20 other nations; a growing number<br />
are enrolled in online courses and degree programs. <strong><strong>SUNY</strong>IT</strong> has established a multi-million-dollar nanotechnology<br />
partnership and has launched several new academic programs, including biology, engineering and cybersecurity. The<br />
campus is in the middle <strong>of</strong> more than $100 million in improvements including construction <strong>of</strong> a student center, field house<br />
and turf field, a residence hall and the Center for Advanced <strong>Technology</strong>. Be a part <strong>of</strong> the <strong><strong>SUNY</strong>IT</strong> campus for generations<br />

Student Center<br />
The $13.6 million Student Center will be the focus <strong>of</strong> student life for both residential and commuter students. It will<br />
include a dining area, food stations providing varied menu choices, multi-purpose rooms, campus life <strong>of</strong>fices, <strong>of</strong>fices and<br />
meeting rooms for student clubs, game room, a theater and lounges, a campus pub, technology for wireless computing,<br />
a 20-foot media wall for displaying information about campus events and activities, and an environment enhanced for<br />
computer gaming. A<strong>to</strong>p the second floor, an ecumenical space will provide “a quiet place for reflection” available for<br />
those <strong>of</strong> all faiths.

Field House<br />
The $20 million Field House will be home <strong>to</strong> the Wildcats’ 16 men’s and women’s intercollegiate athletics and campus<br />
intramural and recreation programs. With seating for 3,500, the building will accommodate commencement and other<br />
large events. It will include a state-<strong>of</strong>-the-art fitness center, indoor running/walking track, sports training facilities, a<br />
high-tech sports medicine/training room, and team locker rooms. To accompany the Field House will be a new, lighted<br />
turf field, new baseball field, and improvements <strong>to</strong> the existing s<strong>of</strong>tball field.<br />
Turf Field<br />
The Turf Field will be built adjacent <strong>to</strong> the Field House. It will be the envy <strong>of</strong> the NEAC conference and serve as<br />
the Wildcats’ home field for men’s and women’s soccer and lacrosse teams. In addition, the lighted field will provide<br />
numerous opportunities <strong>to</strong> serve as the host site for other local and regional sports, community and related events,<br />
bringing thousands <strong>of</strong> participants and specta<strong>to</strong>rs <strong>to</strong> the <strong><strong>SUNY</strong>IT</strong> campus each year.

Residence Hall<br />
Our new $23.5 million Residence Hall will provide the freshman class at <strong><strong>SUNY</strong>IT</strong> with a new suite-style living<br />
experience. Some 240 students will live and learn in ten suites, with eight suites featuring a two-s<strong>to</strong>ry living room with<br />
a spiral staircase. In addition <strong>to</strong> suite-style living, amenities will include studies, student s<strong>to</strong>rage, a building kitchen for<br />
shared use, and laundry rooms.<br />
Center for Advanced <strong>Technology</strong><br />
The $27.5 million Center for Advanced <strong>Technology</strong> will be the focal point for academic activity and applied research in<br />
engineering, cybersecurity and nanotechnology. This state-<strong>of</strong>-the-art complex will showcase <strong><strong>SUNY</strong>IT</strong>’s growing role<br />
in 21st century education, research and workforce development in our region.
