Applying for Admission<br />
An Application for <strong>Graduate</strong> Admission at <strong>SUNY</strong>IT must be submitted to<br />
the <strong>SUNY</strong>IT <strong>Graduate</strong> Center. The fall (August) domestic student application<br />
deadline for enrollment is August 1; the domestic student deadline<br />
for spring (January) is December 1. The graduate application deadline for<br />
international students applying for fall admission is July 1. The international<br />
application deadline for spring admission is November 1.<br />
Both the online and paper applications along with supplemental materials<br />
can be found at: www.sunyit.edu/graduate_center/apply_now. A paper<br />
application can also be obtained by calling the <strong>SUNY</strong>IT <strong>Graduate</strong> Center.<br />
Notification <strong>of</strong> admission decisions begins late January for fall enrollment<br />
and late September for spring enrollment. Decisions continue on a rolling<br />
basis until the class is full. <strong>SUNY</strong>IT reserves the right to close admission<br />
at any time.<br />
Questions regarding admission to a graduate program should be referred<br />
directly to the <strong>Graduate</strong> Center.<br />

Accountancy (MS)<br />
Admission Guidelines<br />
All applicants to the MS Accountancy program must possess a baccalaureate<br />
degree from an accredited university or college. Applicants<br />
without a baccalaureate degree in accounting will be required to complete<br />
pre-requisite undergraduate coursework in accounting, business<br />
law, finance, statistics, economics, general business and computer<br />
science to prepare for the graduate level courses.<br />
The Department <strong>of</strong> Business Management follows the AACSB<br />
(Association to Advance Collegiate Schools <strong>of</strong> Business) recommended<br />
admission guidelines:<br />
A total <strong>of</strong> 1,050 points based on 200 x undergraduate GPA + GMAT<br />
Score. The minimum GMAT score required for admission consideration<br />
is 450.<br />

Advanced <strong>Technology</strong> (MS)<br />
Admission Guidelines<br />
All applicants to the MS Advanced <strong>Technology</strong> program must possess<br />
a baccalaureate degree with an upper division major in engineering,<br />
engineering technology, physics, mathematics or a related area from<br />
an accredited college or university. Applicants must generally have a<br />
cumulative average <strong>of</strong> B or better (a GPA <strong>of</strong> 3.0 on a 4.0 point scale).<br />
Students who have earned a baccalaureate degree in a discipline other<br />
than mentioned above, but who possess significant work experience<br />
(3-5 years) in an engineering/manufacturing area will be considered<br />
for admission on an individual basis.<br />

Computer and Information Science (MS)<br />
Admission Guidelines<br />
All applicants to the MS Computer and Information Science program<br />
must possess a baccalaureate degree with a major in computer science<br />
or information systems. In addition, a background in mathematics<br />
including, calculus, discrete mathematics and probability is required.<br />
Applicants must generally have an average <strong>of</strong> B or better (a GPA <strong>of</strong> 3.0<br />
on a 4.0 point scale).<br />
A GRE General Test score <strong>of</strong> at least 1200 over the quantitative and<br />
verbal reasoning portions <strong>of</strong> the exam is generally required for consideration.<br />
Applicants not meeting the above admission criteria will be considered<br />
on an individual basis.<br />

Information Design and <strong>Technology</strong> (MS)<br />
Admission Guidelines<br />
All applicants to the MS Information Design and <strong>Technology</strong> program<br />
must possess a baccalaureate degree from an accredited university or<br />
college with an average <strong>of</strong> B or better (a GPA <strong>of</strong> 3.0 on a 4.0 point scale).<br />
Lower GPAs will be considered if the student has a strong portfolio,<br />
related experience or does well as a non-matriculated student.<br />

* A non-matriculated student who takes an IDT course and attains a<br />
3.5 GPA or higher does not need to submit a portfolio or letters <strong>of</strong><br />
reference when applying to enter the program.<br />
Nursing (MS)<br />
Adult Nurse Practitioner, Family Nurse Practitioner, Gerontological<br />
Nurse Practitioner, Nursing Administration, Nursing Education<br />
Admissions Criteria<br />
All applicants to the MS Nursing program must possess a baccalaureate<br />
degree with a major in nursing from an NLNAC or CCNE accredited<br />
program with a minimum 3.0 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) for<br />
the last 30 hours <strong>of</strong> undergraduate or graduate level coursework.<br />
Applicants must currently be licensed or eligible for licensure as a<br />
Registered Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Nurse in New York State and must have<br />
completed a minimum <strong>of</strong> one year’s work experience as a pr<strong>of</strong>essional<br />
nurse.<br />
All applicants must demonstrate successful completion <strong>of</strong> a course in<br />
descriptive statistics.<br />
Nurse practitioner applicants must also have successfully completed<br />
an undergraduate health assessment course within 5 years <strong>of</strong> registering<br />
for NUR 566.<br />
