TRAVEL AGENTS INVITED TO BOOK
CARIBBEAN VACATIONS AT FIRST ANNUAL
CARIBBEAN BEACH VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT
The Caribbean Tourism Organization
(CTO) is inviting travel agent
chapter members to the First Annual
Caribbean Beach Volleyball
Tournament which will be held in
Long Beach, NY on June 16-17, as
part of Caribbean Week in New
York. Agents are especially encouraged
to network with the spectators
at the event and seek to interest
them in booking Caribbean
vacations.
Hugh Riley, CTO Director of Marketing,
said, “Not only can agents
make bookings at the event, but
other opportunities exist for turning
the tournaments into a profit
center for travel agents. For example,
clients who are volleyball fans
or players might want to participate
in the qualifier tournaments
in the U.S.”
“In addition, a vacation in Puerto
Rico at the time of the Championship
Final and the closing party
might be extremely appealing to
travelers from the U.S. or within
the Caribbean”, Riley added.
The Long Beach tournament is
one in the series of Caribbean
qualifier tournaments that will be
played at resort beaches along the
East Coast of the United States.
The other tournaments will take
place: July 14-15 - Point Pleasant
Beach, NJ; July 28-29 - Newport,
RI; September 29-30 - Myrtle
Beach, SC; and October 20-21 -
Clearwater Beach, FL. Cash prizes
of $1,000 will be awarded at the
men’s and women’s open division,
while merchandise prizes will be
awarded in lower divisions. The top
placing teams from both the male
and female open divisions will
receive a complimentary trip to Isla
Verde, Puerto Rico, where they will
compete with winning teams from
the other qualifying tournaments
for the First Annual Caribbean
Beach Volleyball Championship
November 3-4, 2007.
Cash prizes will be awarded, as
well as the Caribbean Challenge
Trophy.
