13. Grading and contouring will be expected to alter<br />
the topography and remove vegetation from<br />
approximately 105 acres within the floodplain of<br />
the Rio Grande, which could in turn increase<br />
erosion potential and increase runoff during heavy<br />
precipitation events. Revegetating the area with<br />
native vegetation following construction along with<br />
other BMPs to abate runoff and wind erosion<br />
could reduce the impacts of erosion and runoff.<br />
Additionally, the small increase in impervious<br />
surface within the floodplain will result in negligible<br />
increases in the quantity and velocity of storm<br />
water flows to the Rio Grande. BMPs would be<br />
developed manage storm water both during and<br />
after construction. Therefore, impacts will be<br />
expected to be negligible.<br />
