“I did my Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering from
BMS Institute of Technology, Bangalore and choose
Swansea University as it has been consistently
ranked within top two universities in the UK in Civil
and Computational Engineering. It also has world
renowned researchers in the field of Computational
Engineering. It’s a great place to study and has lots of
opportunities after graduation.
In my free time I’m a member of several Committes
in the Students’ Union and in the College of
Engineering. I like to be an active student involved in
cultural, volunteering and sporting events. I have also
worked part time for Conduit UK, handling customers
like Setanta Sports and Vodafone for 6 months.
The highlight of my time so far has been receiving the
International Student of the year 2010 Wales Runnerup
from British Council and receiving distinction
throughout my Master’s course.”

I chose Swansea University as my first choice
university, one of the main reasons was because of
the excellent reputation of the Computer Science
Department which is ranked among the top 25 in the
UK. I chose to study an MSc in Software & Computing
Technology.
The Lecturers in the Department are excellent, and
are equally very accessible to students. Many are
actively involved in world class research areas such
as: visual computing, human computer interaction
and theoretical computer science. There is a diverse
nationality mix in the department which has enabled
me to make friends from all over the world. The
Indian Society and Computer Science Society also run
several social events throughout the year.
I have recently completed my MSc in Software &
Computing Technology and intend to gain further
experience in the software industry before pursuing a
PhD at Swansea University.

“For my MBA internship I went to Abaca, a SME
located in Carmarthenshire. The company specializes
in making luxury organic bed mattresses. My
internship began and on the first day I realized it
is a whole business that is based on the concepts
of niche marketing and high standards o business
ethics, because the raw material they used was
100% organic. I took corporate social responsibility
& business ethics as one of my optional modules and
most of the concepts of the module were practised
by this company. It was a great experience to learn
how a small but successful SME applies most of the
theoretical concepts of MBA.”

“I’m currently a student of 3rd year BA English and
Media Studies. I’m here on a transfer programme
from Christ University, Bangalore, which enables me
to attain an undergraduate degree from Swansea
University. The experience in Swansea so far has
been very different and I’m enjoying the learning
process. The system of education here is a refreshing
change from the spoon-feeding approach of Indian
education. My course here is both research and
practical based and requires me to work on both
aspects simultaneously.
Studying in the UK has helped me broaden my
perspective to a great extent and taught me to be
independent. Having interacted with people from
various cultures and backgrounds, I have learnt to
accept differences and respect everyone alike. Global
education, as we call it, has brought about a positive
