APLD
Dear APLD Members,
Emergent texlllral fonns create patterns in Nature that
can be used in creating transitions in the garden.
CONCLUSION
Try to think of texture as a tool that is
more than just a way of comparing leaf
and bark surfaces to each other. If we
understand that the tool has a greater
capacity for expression, then we can
start to exercise that tool more
effectively and have a greater control
over the designs of our landscapes.
Remember the texture of the whole,
the texture of the landform, the texture
of the ground plane, the texture of the
edge and the potential emergent quality
of textures. Stretch your thinking
beyond the normal and the complacent.
If you do, the quality of your designs
will continue to evolve and you will
evolve along with them.
Organic Gardening magazine is compiling a database of landscape \.,
designers who specialize in organic methods. The names collected will be
used by our editors when doing interviews and research for various articles
for the magazine. We would appreciate hearing from any APLD member
who advocates organic techniques and would like to be included in our
database. Please send us a short description of your interest and
involvement with organic gardening and how you incorporate it into your
design work. We would also love to see photographs of organic gardens
you've designed, and a copy of your vita.
