Camper T-Shirt T Each registered camper will receive a Camp t-shirt as part of their registration. Camp t-shirts will be distributed to each camper during their first session in attendance. Cell Phone/Electronics Policy Camp is a cell-phone and electronic free zone. If cell phones come to camp, they must remain safely in a backpack or held for safekeeping at the camp office. Remember the YMCA is not responsible for the loss or damage of any personal item. Rainy Days Campers will take part in a full scheduled program of activities regardless of the weather. We are prepared with a rainy day schedule for each group which focuses on crafts, group games, and special events. Be sure to dress campers appropriately for the weather. Late Night / Camp Out Option Tuesdays of sessions 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 offer the opportunity for campers to extend their stay into the evening. Late Night, recommended for campers age 5+, includes dinner and evening activities with pick-up at 9:15pm. Camp Out, recommended for campers age 7 – 13, includes 3 meals, evening activities, and sleep over. Payment and the 2013 Day Camp Late Night/Camp Out Form is required to register and will take place Monday at camp during each odd numbered session. What to Pack We advise packing the following items in your camper's backpack each day. Please be sure to clearly label everything with your camper's first and last name. There is no formal uniform at camp. Please dress your child in a t-shirt and shorts every day. Sneakers are required footwear for all camp activities. Open-toed sandals/flip flops will only be worn to the waterfront. • Bag lunch • Swimsuit and towel • Plastic bag for wet clothes • Extra set of clothes (recommended for campers entering 2nd grade and below) • Sunscreen lotion, hat, and water bottle • Sweatshirt • Water shoes • Raingear • Sneakers Lost and Found Misplaced items are common among elementary school age children. You can help limit lost items by following these procedures: • Label all belongings with camper’s first and last name. • Remind each child to check his/her belongings at the end of each day. • If something is lost, check the lost and found as soon as possible. • Notify camp staff upon sign-in/sign-out regarding lost items or speak with your child’s counselor. • All lost and found not claimed after by the last day of camp will be donated to a charitable organization. • The YMCA is not responsible for lost, stolen, broken, or destroyed items.
Sunscreen/Insect Repellent All campers should apply sunscreen in the morning prior to arriving at camp. Staff will assist campers with applying their own sunscreen after morning and afternoon swim periods. In order to comply with child abuse prevention guidelines, the application of sunscreen will take place in an open setting. We recommend that each camper keep their own bottle of sunscreen lotion in their backpack labeled with their first and last name. Because campers spend a large part of their day outside, we recommend camper's use the following precautions: • Wear a hat to protect them from the sun. • Wear approved swim shirts while participating in swim periods. • Have their own personal bottle of sunscreen available MEDICAL AND HEALTH INFORMATION The 2013 Day Camp Health Form (2 pages) is to be submitted the first day of camp. Medications It is preferable that prescription medications be administered at home when possible. Campers who require medications will need to submit additional information and meet the camp nurse. All medication must be in its original container and clearly labeled with campers first and last name. WE CANNOT ACCEPT ANY MEDICATIONS THAT ARE NOT IN THEIR ORIGINAL CONTAINER. Immunization History New York State Department of Health requires each camp to keep a current copy of every camper’s immunization history on file in order for them to attend. A complete copy of your child’s immunization history should be submitted with the Health Form. CAMPERS WITHOUT AN IMMUNIZATION HISTORY ON FILE WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO ATTEND. Emergencies Our staff is trained in handling a variety of emergency situations. In the event of an emergency, we will make every attempt to notify parents immediately. If necessary, emergency transportation will be handled by local emergency services. Daily Snack The Y is committed to healthy living and modeling healthy eating. A healthy afternoon nut-aware snack will be provided for all campers. PAYMENT OPTIONS AND PROCEDURES Payments are due in full by June 1, 2013. Easy Payment Option The Easy Payment Option (EFT) is the preferred billing method. Simply provide a credit or debit card and tuition will be automatically paid June 1, 2013. Changes in Registration Parents are responsible for informing the camp office in writing of all changes to camper registration and updating contact details including address and phone numbers.
