Closed Access Summer Playschemes are
offered by Cwmbran Community Council and are registered
with CSSIW to provide childcare for 4-11 year olds for
approximately the length of a school day. Children must be
booked into the playscheme and they are not allowed to leave
the premises. There is a small annual registration fee to pay.

childminders offer a wraparound service where they drop
off your child at some closed access playschemes and pick
up again afterwards to extend the childcare session per day.

What is ‘registered childcare’?
Anyone in Wales who provides childcare for children
under the age of 8 for more than 2 hours a day
for reward must be registered with the Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales
(CSSIW). For over 8 year olds, the advantages of using a registered childcare provider
include that parents/carers may be eligible for help towards the cost of that childcare
through tax credits or childcare vouchers.
What will my child do?
You can be confident that your child is safe and looked after by professional childcare
providers who ensure that children are offered a variety of activities. Children in
holiday childcare can take part in outdoor as well as indoor activities and have the
chance to meet other children.
