TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS
DESCRIPTION
EcoLogic ColourCoat Low Sheen Eggshell Bases are high performance
coatings specifically formulated to replace alkyd base products in
hospitals, schools, heavy duty institutional and light industrial areas.
Designed for interior or exterior application, EcoLogic ColourCoat
Bases are formulated to provide the highest opacity possible in clean,
bright accent colours yet retain the high performance attributes of the
EcoLogic line including adhesion to difficult substrates such as aged
alkyd paints, ceramics and plastics. EcoLogic ColourCoat offers a rich,
low sheen eggshell finish with excellent durability, scrubbability and
colour fastness properties in an easy to apply low odour finish. This
product is lead free and resists mildew, moisture and dirt. ColourCoat
is designed to be tinted with 4-8 ounces of universal colourant for
maximum opacity.
RECOMMENDED USES
• Recommended for use where bright, vivid colours are required
in a high performance coating.
• Suitable for use on interior accent walls, signs, graphics or trim
for application by brush roll or spray.
• Colour Base is optimized to provide maximum hiding levels
yet retain a high degree of tinting range to achieve a range of
Cloverdale and custom colours.

SURFACE PREPARATION
All Surfaces
Surface preparation is important. All surfaces must be smooth,
clean, dry, free of mildew, grease or soap films, sanding dust or
other contaminants. If mildew is present surface should be washed
with a chlorine bleach solution (20% bleach, 1% liquid detergent
in water) see "Special Note". Previously painted surfaces must be
washed with a solution of 3 tablespoons of TSP in a gallon of warm
water. Rinse thoroughly, allow to dry and then scuff sand using 80
to 100 grit sandpaper on a hand sander. Remove all sanding dust.
Do not apply at temperatures below 10°C (50°F). For drastic colour
changes, a coat of a neutral Foundation Primer is recommended.
These Bases are not recommended for use in their untinted form.
WARNING! If you scrape, sand or remove old lead paint from any
surface you may release lead dust. LEAD IS TOXIC. EXPOSURE
TO LEAD DUST CAN CAUSE SERIOUS ILLNESS, SUCH AS
BRAIN DAMAGE, ESPECIALLY IN CHILDREN. PREGNANT
WOMEN SHOULD ALSO AVOID EXPOSURE. Wear a NIOSH
approved respirator to control lead exposure. Carefully clean
up with a wet mop or HEPAvacuum. For additional information,

RECOMMENDED PRIMER
Pre-Painted Surfaces
De-gloss by sanding and must be soundly adhering prior to
repainting.

Warning
Keep from freezing. USE WITH ADEQUATE VENTILATION. Close
container after EACH use. Keep out of reach of children.
Do not take internally.
First Aid
In case of eye contact, flush immediately with plenty of water for at
least 15 minutes. Wash contaminated skin with soap and water. If
ingested, call physician or the Poison Control Centre immediately.
