GETTING STARTED<br />

Set up your <strong>PSP</strong> ® (PlayStation ® Portable) system according to <strong>the</strong><br />

instructions in <strong>the</strong> manual supplied with <strong>the</strong> system. Turn <strong>the</strong> system<br />

on. The power indicator lights up in green and <strong>the</strong> home menu is<br />

displayed. Press <strong>the</strong> OPEN latch to open <strong>the</strong> disc cover. INSERT<br />

LEGO ® <strong>Pirates</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Caribbean</strong>: The Video Game disc with <strong>the</strong> label<br />

facing away from <strong>the</strong> system, slide until fully inserted and close <strong>the</strong><br />

disc cover. From <strong>the</strong> <strong>PSP</strong> ® system’s home menu, select <strong>the</strong> Game icon<br />

and <strong>the</strong>n <strong>the</strong> UMD icon.<br />

A thumbnail for <strong>the</strong> s<strong>of</strong>tware is displayed. Select <strong>the</strong> thumbnail and<br />

press <strong>the</strong> S button <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>PSP</strong> ® system to start <strong>the</strong> s<strong>of</strong>tware. Follow<br />

<strong>the</strong> on-screen instructions and refer to this manual for information<br />

on using <strong>the</strong> s<strong>of</strong>tware.<br />

Memory Stick Duo<br />

Warning! Keep Memory Stick Duo media out <strong>of</strong> reach <strong>of</strong> small children, as <strong>the</strong><br />

To save game settings and progress, insert a Memory Stick Duo into<br />

<strong>the</strong> memory stick slot <strong>of</strong> your <strong>PSP</strong> ® system. You can load saved game<br />

previously saved games.<br />

Character Swapping<br />

A savvy captain knows a busy crew is a happy crew. Switch<br />

between characters to take advantage <strong>of</strong> each one’s special<br />

abilities. To swap, tap <strong>the</strong> L or R Button.<br />

Shooting<br />

Some pirates wield pistols or blunderbusses. To aim such<br />

a weapon, press and hold <strong>the</strong> D Button to activate <strong>the</strong><br />

targeting dot. Move <strong>the</strong> dot over your target with <strong>the</strong><br />

Directional Buttons/Analog Stick, and release <strong>the</strong><br />

D Button to fire.<br />

Swimming<br />

After taking <strong>the</strong> plunge, press <strong>the</strong> A Button to<br />

dive deeper and <strong>the</strong> S Button to swim back toward<br />

<strong>the</strong> surface.<br />

Note: The game automatically saves your progress during play.<br />

an epic adventure that brings <strong>the</strong> <strong>Pirates</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Caribbean</strong><br />

world and all <strong>of</strong> its colorful characters to life in LEGO<br />

Brick form. You’ll step into <strong>the</strong> boots <strong>of</strong> Captain Jack<br />

Sparrow (a legend in his own mind!) and experience<br />

<strong>the</strong> memorable scenes from all four <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> films in <strong>the</strong><br />

humorous and quirky LEGO Gideo Games style. Are you<br />

pirate enough? Are you LEGO Pirate enough?<br />

The Port is <strong>the</strong> hub <strong>of</strong> your game world where waters are<br />

calm. From here you venture to sea, first aboard Captain<br />

Sparrow’s Black Pearl and eventually Blackbeard’s Queen<br />

Anne’s Revenge.<br />

Story Mode<br />

Jump aboard Story Mode to follow <strong>the</strong> course set by<br />

Captain Jack Sparrow through all four <strong>Pirates</strong> movies.<br />

Free Play<br />

After you’ve complete a level in Story Mode, you can<br />

replay it here. Captain your crew well and claim cleverly<br />

hidden Ship Bottles and LEGO Studs.<br />

New Game<br />

Start a new game and select a save slot.<br />

Load Game<br />

Select a saved game to play.<br />

Continue<br />

Continue from <strong>the</strong> last accessed save game.<br />

Options<br />

Adjust Music and Special Effects Volume, choose a game<br />

Language, or view <strong>the</strong> Credits.<br />

Souvenir Shop – Have a word with <strong>the</strong> Innkeeper at<br />

<strong>the</strong> Inn to visit <strong>the</strong> Shop. Spend your loot on unlocked<br />

characters for use in Free Play, or buy Hints, or Red Brick<br />

Extras and watch unlocked cut scenes. Or, peer into <strong>the</strong><br />

Mini-Kit viewer and have a stare at Mini-Kit models you<br />

have pirated so far.<br />

Character Customizer<br />

Visit <strong>the</strong> Character Customizer to create a character to use<br />

in Free Play mode with a selection <strong>of</strong> LEGO Studs you<br />

have unlocked.<br />

LEGO Studs – LEGO Studs are scattered throughout<br />

LEGO® <strong>Pirates</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Caribbean</strong> The Video Game.<br />

Collect <strong>the</strong>m and spend <strong>the</strong>m later in <strong>the</strong> Souvenir Shop.<br />

If you collect enough LEGO Studs in a level you’ll be<br />

awarded <strong>the</strong> title <strong>of</strong> True Pirate.<br />

Red Bricks – Red Bricks unlock special extras, such<br />

as stud multipliers and special abilities, which you can<br />

purchase in <strong>the</strong> Shop. To activate a Red Brick during<br />

gameplay, open <strong>the</strong> Pause Menu and select Extras.<br />

Character Tokens – These are precious indeed, as each<br />

unlocks additional crew you purchase in <strong>the</strong> Shop. Once<br />

purchased, new characters join your crew in Free Play.<br />

Ship Bottles – There are 10 Ship Bottles to collect in<br />

each level. Eight Bottles are hidden for you to find, and<br />

two more Bottles are given to you as<br />

rewards for achieving True Pirate in<br />

Story and Free Play modes.<br />
