School Appropriate<br />
<strong>Plays</strong> suitable for high schools are marked HS in<br />
the title line. Middle school recommendations are<br />
marked MS.<br />

Set/Technical Requirements<br />
All plays have modest technical requirements.<br />
Sets can be as creative or as elaborate as you like,<br />
but most of our plays can be performed with a few<br />
cubes and chairs.<br />

Perusal / Reading Copies<br />
You are welcome to purchase scripts for perusal or<br />
reading purposes.<br />
Performances<br />
»»<br />
When Do Royalty Fees Apply?<br />
Royalty fees apply to all performances whether<br />
or not admission is charged. Any performance<br />
in front of an audience (such as an invited dress<br />
rehearsal) is considered a performance for royalty<br />
purposes.<br />

Rehearsal Scripts<br />
Productions must be rehearsed using original,<br />
authorized copies of the script.<br />
You may purchase either a copy of the script for<br />
each cast member, or a licence to photocopy the<br />
script for your cast. Photocopy licenses include<br />
a free download of the script, plus permission<br />
to photocopy for cast, crew, directors, stage<br />
manager(s), designers and judges.<br />
NOTE: Photocopy Licenses are only available<br />
to groups who are producing the play and sold<br />
only in conjunction with performance royalties.<br />

Changes to the Text<br />
<strong>Plays</strong> must be performed as written. Any<br />
alterations, additions or deletions to the text must<br />
be approved in writing.<br />
If you will be requesting any alterations to the<br />
script, you are strongly urged to contact us before<br />
ordering scripts and performance rights.<br />

Monologues and Scenes for Competition<br />
Monologues and scenes/excerpts lasting five<br />
minutes or less may be performed in competition<br />
(e.g. Thespian Individual Events) without royalty.<br />

Performance Royalties<br />
In the event that a production is cancelled, we<br />
offer store credit for the value of the Performance<br />
Licence and/or Videorecording License as long as<br />
we’re notified a minimum of 24 hours before the<br />
performance date we have been given. We cannot<br />
offer credit once this date has passed.<br />

Competition Advice<br />
If you’re participating in a competition where it’s<br />
uncertain how many times you’ll be performing<br />
the play we recommend ordering performance<br />
royalties for the number of performances you<br />
know you will be giving. If you advance in<br />
the competition, it’s a simple process to order<br />
additional performance royalties.<br />
