medns that, in comparison with many<br />
other loudspeakers, your amplifier will<br />
not have to be driven so hard to<br />
produce a realistic listening sound<br />
level, with less chance o<strong>Í</strong> producing a<br />
distorted signal. Your ears will tell you<br />

How do we produce such good<br />
sounds? Well, to start with we are<br />
manu<strong>Í</strong>acturers o<strong>Í</strong> complete<br />
loudspeaker systems. <strong>The</strong> components<br />
o<strong>Í</strong> the Strat<strong>for</strong>d, Cambridge and<br />
Ox<strong>Í</strong>ord are designed and<br />
manu<strong>Í</strong>actured in our own <strong>Í</strong>actory. This<br />
enables us to provide unique solutions<br />
to acoustic problems that some other<br />
manufacturers do not even recognise.<br />
Take our tweeter <strong>Í</strong>or instance.<br />
Conventional cone or dome tweeters<br />
will not easily accept hiqh level music<br />
transients e<strong>Í</strong><strong>Í</strong>iciently and without<br />
distortion. Our research programme<br />
produced the Tannoy horn loaded<br />
compression driver. This remarkable<br />
device uses a special magnetic cooling<br />
<strong>Í</strong>luid which enables it to handle <strong>Í</strong>ar<br />
more power, and convert signi<strong>Í</strong>icantly<br />
more o<strong>Í</strong> that power into clean sound.<br />

provides consistent stereo imagery,<br />

We certainly did not neglect the low<br />

bass/mid-range drivers were<br />
developed, both using a cone made by<br />
Tannoy <strong>Í</strong>rom a polyole<strong>Í</strong>in co-polymer<br />
- which provides a smoother, more<br />
extended <strong>Í</strong>requency response -<br />
mounted within a rigid pressure<br />
<strong>Í</strong>ormed metal <strong>Í</strong>rame. Our heavyweight<br />
magnet assembly provides high power<br />
handling with the legendary Tannoy<br />
e<strong>Í</strong><strong>Í</strong>iciency.<br />
Both drivers are mated to a crossover<br />
network care<strong>Í</strong>ully designed to provide<br />
optimum per<strong>Í</strong>ormance with low<br />
distortion. We ensure reliable<br />
per<strong>for</strong>mance by using only high<br />
quality components.<br />
Last, but by no means least, we<br />
designed a damped, very rigid ducted<br />
port cabinet <strong>Í</strong>or each model, to give<br />
really solid bass response. Each cabinet<br />
has a Walnut <strong>Í</strong>inish - and the<br />
detachable acoustic <strong>Í</strong>oam grille o<strong>Í</strong> each<br />

Strat<strong>for</strong>d<br />
Proof that a modest budget need not<br />
restrict you to mediocre sounds, the<br />
Strat<strong>Í</strong>ord produces a <strong>Í</strong>ull, clean sound<br />

compression driver, but matched to a<br />
10" version o<strong>Í</strong> our polyole<strong>Í</strong>in cone bass<br />
driver. This combination, mounted in a<br />
larger cabinet made <strong>Í</strong>rom heavier<br />
weight material and walnut finish,<br />
of<strong>Í</strong>ers the most extended <strong>Í</strong>requency<br />
response (SOHz-2OkHz) and highest<br />
peak power handling capacity o<strong>Í</strong> this<br />
