Box of Kleenex
Graphing Calculator, either TI 84+ Silver Edition, TI 84+, TI 83+ (You may not use a TI-89 or TI-Nspire CAS in this
course)
GRADING POLICY
Homework 10%
Quizzes 30%
Tests 60%
HOMEWORK
Homework will be given a daily grade for accuracy or completion. Homework will be checked daily in class by
student but occasionally taken up.
Late work will not be accepted. A ZERO will be recorded in the gradebook.
NO EXTRA CREDIT
TEST AND QUIZZES
Most quizzes and ALL tests are announced in advance. Unannounced quizzes may be given at any time.
If you are absent the day of a test review but are present the day of the test, you will be required to take your test
on test day.
If you are absent only the day of the test or quiz, you need to make it up either in the morning or afternoon the day
you return. It would be smart to email your teacher and schedule a time.
If you are absent multiple days and miss a test or quiz, it is YOUR responsibility to schedule a time with your
teacher to make up your assessment.
One quiz may be dropped each six weeks(as long as 3 or more are given). This reward will be revoked if you
have more than one zero for a homework grade.
Re-Take Test Policy: Guidelines for retakes are outlined in the Kiltie. More specific guidelines for this course
include:

Students will not be permitted to retake a unit test if they have earned a zero on any assignment
(including but not limited to homework, classwork, and quizzes) leading up to that test.
The Algebra 1 PAP Re-Take Request Form must be submitted directly to the teacher by the student (in
person) within 72 hours of the grade having been posted in Skyward. The Algebra 1 PAP Re-Take
Request Form will be available on Moodle.
Format may or may not be same as original unit test.
The retake will be scheduled by the teacher to be completed within 5 school days from the time of the
request.
The test retake will be averaged with the original test grade, and the average of the two grades will
replace the original test grade. The maximum replacement grade that can be earned is 70%.
Test retakes may be reviewed by appointment with the student’s teacher, but will not be returned to the
student.
Students need to remember that the retake policy does not change UIL eligibility
requirements. If a student is failing at the end of the 3 week or 6 week grading
period, the retake will NOT change the student’s UIL eligibility.
MAKE UP WORK AND INCOMPLETES
**When you are absent, it is YOUR responsibility to:
o Get the notes and any handouts you missed.
o Complete any assignments (check your syllabus).
o Grade and show me homework assignments missed.
o Schedule a time with me to make up assessments missed during your absence immediately.
You will have the same number of days you were absent to do your make up work. For example, if you were
absent 2 days, then you have 2 days from the day you get back to make up the missed work. Since you will have
a copy of the syllabus for each unit in advance, I expect you to make every effort to complete the assignments
that are given while you are absent.
Incomplete six week averages have to be made up within 10 days, otherwise all missing grades will result in a 0.
