The <strong>Village</strong> has selected Tenco Excavating <strong>of</strong> Bourbonnais, IL to construct Phase 1 <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Village</strong> <strong>Park</strong> planned on<br />

the five acre parcel at 12216 S. Will Cook Road next to the Holy Family complex. Construction is expected to start<br />

mid-April (weather permitting) and finish by late June. Grass will be planted and be ready for use in Spring<br />

2014. Facilities will include a youth baseball field that can also be used for s<strong>of</strong>tball and lacrosse along with backstop,<br />

fences, players benches, and a parking lot. Phase 2 may start soon and may include pathways, bleachers, and a<br />

basketball half court.<br />

TRAFFIC ALERT: ROAD CLOSURE MAY 5, 2013 HALF MARATHON<br />

This year’s Half Marathon will be taking place on Sunday May 5, 2013 on Route 83 between Harlem and Archer<br />

Avenue. In order to ensure a safe environment for <strong>Palos</strong> Half Marathon runners, Route 83 will be closed to all traffic<br />

on May 5th between roughly 6:00 am and 11:00 am. We encourage you to avoid the area if possible and seek<br />

alternative native routes during this time frame. Possible alternatives to Route 83 would be 111th Street, 123rd<br />

Street, 131st, Street Rt. 45, Harlem Avenue, and Ridgeland Avenue.<br />

Autumn In The <strong>Park</strong> Festival on September 21, 2013<br />

you will be required to have judging certification<br />

through either the Kansas City Barbeque Society or by<br />

completing the training through the <strong>Village</strong> on June<br />

1st. <strong>Village</strong> training will consist <strong>of</strong> review <strong>of</strong> the<br />

contest rules and criteria for judging BBQ ribs.<br />

We have 20 spots available for training.<br />
