Program Description<br />

This two day review course is intended for<br />

progressive and critical care nurses who are<br />

seeking a comprehensive review of the core<br />

knowledge base for bedside practice. It is<br />

helpful for those preparing for the AACN <strong>PCCN</strong><br />

or <strong>CCRN</strong> certification exam. The lectures and<br />

time allotment are based on the <strong>PCCN</strong> and<br />

<strong>CCRN</strong> exam blueprint, and will cover all body<br />

systems, physiology, pathophysiology, assessment<br />

strategies and treatment options for<br />

appropriate patients.<br />

Objectives<br />

1. Identify the common acute care needs of<br />

patients with single and multisystem organ<br />

abnormalities in the critical care units.<br />

2. Outline assessment strategies and treatment<br />

options for common critical care problems.<br />

3. <strong>Review</strong> the pathophysiology for single and<br />

multisystem dysfunction and discuss the<br />

pharmacological management of each.<br />

4. Describe the AACN synergy model of caring<br />

and the blueprint for the <strong>PCCN</strong> and<br />

<strong>CCRN</strong> certification exam.<br />

<strong>Course</strong> Fee<br />

<strong>Course</strong> fee is $100 for <strong>Inova</strong> employees and<br />

$250 for non-<strong>Inova</strong> employees.<br />

<strong>Inova</strong> Learning Network is approved as a<br />

provider of continuing education in nursing by<br />

the Virginia Nurses Association, which is<br />

accredited as an approver of continuing education<br />

in nursing by the American Nurses Credentialing<br />

Center’s Commission on Accreditation.<br />

The <strong>Inova</strong> Learning Network, in conjunction with<br />

the Nurses Association’s CEA program is<br />

offering approximately 14 contact hours for this<br />

program.<br />
