Welcome to South Central Conference Camp Meeting 2007. Our 

Camp Meeting theme is “Getting Ready For Eternity.” During this Camp 

Meeting, we will review the history of the Conflict of the Ages. The following 

paraphrase expresses in a sentence the direction of our review: 

The history of the great conflict between good and evil, from the time it 

began in heaven to the final overthrow and the total eradication of sin, is 

a demonstration of God’s love (Patriarchs and Prophets, p.33). It is our 

intent to present the patience, compassion and the love of Divinity in 

this great controversy. 

We will begin our review of this conflict or controversy between good 

and evil by focusing on the controversy that started in heaven. Why was 

there a conflict of interest? What were some of the issues? Next, we will 

study the controversy as it continued in Eden. After studying the conflict 

in Eden, we will review Divinity’s plan to restore harmony and end 

the controversy through the Plan of Redemption. We will then focus on 

this conflict as it continues today in our lives. On the last Sabbath, we 

will concentrate on Eden restored and the controversy ended. 

One day this conflict will be over, and we will live together in a new 

environment, in a New Heaven and on a New Earth. The intent and 

purpose of this Camp Meeting is to encourage and assist all who are 

“Getting Ready For Eternity.”

Pastor Alfonzo Greene III

Pastor Alfonzo Greene III was born to Pastor 

and Mrs. Alfonzo Greene Jr. in Berrien Springs, 

MI while his father was a student at Andrews 

University Theological Seminary and mother a student 

at the School of Education. Pastor Greene is a product 

of Christian education having attended Adventist schools from Kindergarten 

through Graduate school. He graduated with honors from Forest Lake 

Academy where he distinguished himself as a leader in the Student Association 

as President. 

Pastor Greene responded to the call of the gospel ministry while a student at 

Oakwood College, and led out in Bible studies, student literature evangelism, 

and the soup kitchen ministry. He received the Bachelor of Arts Degree in 

Theology from Oakwood College in May of 2001, and was extended a call by the 

South Central Conference. He also earned a Masters of Divinity from Andrews 

University SDA Theological Seminary in Berrien Springs, MI, December 2003. 

While attending the Seminary, he served as Youth Pastor, Emmanuel Seventhday 

Adventist Church, Chicago Heights, IL, under the leadership of Pastor 

James Humphreys. 

In January, 2004, Pastor Greene was assigned to the First, Ephesus, and New 

Covenant Seventh Day Adventist Churches in Springfield, Clarksville, and 

Gallatin, TN. While serving as Pastor of this wonderful district, God truly 

blessed. Under his leadership, the Ephesus and Springfield First Seventh Day 

Adventist Churches added many souls to the kingdom through Revelation 

Seminars. Upgrades were made to the physical plant of First Seventh Day 

Adventist Church and the mortgage was paid off early. Pastor Greene currently 

serves as the Pastor of the Maranatha/First Seventh Day Adventist Churches in 

Tuscaloosa and Eutaw, AL. 

Pastor Greene is happily married to his high school sweetheart, the former Mary 

Okike, also an Oakwood College graduate, who is a Certified Public Accountant 

for a public accounting firm. They have been married for three years and are 

the proud parents of their 3 month old daughter Chimere Cynthia.n n n n n n

Pastor Edgardo José Herrera

Pastor Edgardo José Herrera was born April 2, 1968 

in Manhattan, New York. His parents, Aura Nela 

Martinez (mother) and Jose Altagracia Herrera 

(father), are from the Dominican Republic. He is the 

first born of five brothers. He lived in New York City his first nine years until 

his parents decided to go to Santo Domingo to establish their family. It was at 

that time Edgardo began to learn his family’s heritage. 

In the early 90’s, Pastor Herrera’s life was transformed. He fell deeply in 

love with Maria Isabel Acevedo, who is now his life partner. As a result of this 

encounter he was introduced to Jesus. His wife kept telling him she “wanted to 

have a Christian home.” It was on July 14, 1995, that they both accepted Jesus 

as their Savior, and were baptized by a pastor who would have great influence 

on them for the rest of their lives. 

Pastor Herrera was taught of his pastor how to give Bible studies and home 

visitations. Approximately one year later, this same pastor told Edgardo that 

he was ready to become a pastor. Little did he know that he would transfer 

from City University of New York to Atlantic Union College to start training 

as a theologian. Pastor Herrera worked, studied and planted his first church for 

Jesus Christ. 

In the fall of 1999 Edgardo was sponsored by the Northeastern Conference to 

receive his masters of divinity at Andrews University Theological Seminary. He 

studied, worked and drove one hour to the IASD Spanish Church in Kalamazoo 

Michigan. 

While a student at Andrews University, on May 30, 2003, Pastor Herrera 

accepted a call to be the coordinator of a new department, Latino Ministries in 

addition to being a pastor for the South Central Conference. During the past 

four years the Lord has blessed the Latino Ministries with 14 churches, more 

than 600 members and a great pastoral staff. 

The Herrera’s have been blessed with two beautiful children, a son Ewerd 

and a daughter Genesis. Since the day Pastor Edgardo and Maria Herrera, as, a 

family, said yes to Jesus they have not stopped working in his vineyard. “As for 

me and my family all the glory is for the Lion of the Tribe of Judah.” n n n n n n n

Pastor Toussaint Williams

Pastor Toussaint Williams was born to George and 

Marion Williams. For his senior year in high 

school, he attended Pine Forge Academy in Pine 

forge, PA, where he met his beautiful wife, the former 

LaKeisha Bonner. 

Pastor Williams began his collegiate career at Oakwood College as a nursing 

major. Looking to complete his requirement for religion classes, he enrolled in 

“introduction to Ministry.” He had no idea that it was a course strictly geared 

towards theology majors. However, at the course’s end, he realized that he was 

not in the class by accident. From that point, he experienced a strong sense of 

peace as he pursued a degree in Theology. 

After graduating from Oakwood College, Pastor Williams received a call 

to serve in the South Central Conference. He immediately went to Andrews 

Theological Seminary where he completed his Master’s in Theology. 

Pastor Williams started his pastoral career in the Radcliff and Campbellsville 

District. His most prized accomplishment was resurrecting the “dying” Calvary 

SDA Church in Campbellsville, KY. He currently pastors in the Hillsview/ 

Birmingham and Pell City District. Earlier this year, he held a successful 

Revelation Seminar and is planning another one later this fall. 

Pastor Williams has a two-year old son, Eleazar Toussaint. His son’s name is 

his life’s motto. Translated, Eleazar means “God is my helper.” His passion is to 

encourage people to use their spiritual gifts to further the work of the Lord. n

This class is designed to redirect behaviors in our Juniors that need developing or 

refining as they enter adolescence and head toward their teen years. It will help with 

the mental transitioning that takes place when boys “take shape” as young men and 

girls...well they literally “take shape” as young women. In a fun and exciting handson-environment. 

The awkward sting of properly making introductions, using table 

manners, having correct posture, practicing good personal hygiene habits, and calming 

boisterous behavior are age appropriately introduced. The learned activities will be 

highlighted at a grand culminating semi-formal banquet especially prepared only for 

the attendees of this class. What a great opportunity for our SCC junior-youth to blend 

and manifest the social graces [5th - 8th Gade only]. 

GODLY AND GRACEFULLY DESIGNED

Part II of Charming Challenge, this fun, interactive and practical class will put Juniors 

to the real test. These young people will learn how to present themselves with 

confidence and authority Skills being taught include making introductions comfortably, 

how to dress properly for every occasion, and advance formal dining skills. They 

will discuss issues dealing with self-esteem and peer pressure, how to treat each other, 


adults, and senior citizens, age appropriate behavior, and Christian adolescent appearances. 

The learned activities will be highlighted at a grand culminating semi-formal 

banquet especially prepared only for the attendees of this class. What a great opportunity 

for our SCC junior-youth to blend and manifest the social graces [5th - 8th Grade 

only]. 

What they learn will be challenged through a choice of great activities. Juniors must 

choose to spend the last hour participating in one of the following activities:

They will use their skills in conducting interviews, making introductions, asking the

will learn that they too have a message that can be shared with the sick and shut-in,

Ellowyn Bell and Margaret Weathers 


This workshop includes a mini–workshop on how Pastors and 

church clerks can make use of the South Central Conference 

website by Mrs. Ellowyn Bell, communication secretary. In 

addition, Mrs. Weathers will address questions or concerns relative to those clerks who 

are in the live site of the E-Adventist Network system. Also, there will be a “mid-year 

review” for church clerks, a “best practices” discussion and more.

interested in Prayer. The subject is “Making Your Church a House of Prayer.”

Listen on Radio 

WOCG (90.1 FM), the Oakwood College Radio Station, will broadcast the Sabbath 

Worship Service each weekend. Listen all week to its quality Christian programming, 

music and announcements regarding camp meeting. 

Transportation 

A transportation service will be provided to and from the bus station and airport 

between the hours of 8:00 AM and 10 PM each day. For transportation the campus 

contact the South Central Camp Meeting Office: M-Th, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., and Fri., 

9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Persons coming before or after hours given should hire a cab or 

arrange other transportation service. 

Accommodations Regulations 

Please do not move furniture from room to room. Kindly bring your own bed linen, 

towels, toiletries to camp meeting. Please do not iron on beds or floors-use laundry. 

Persons who damage furniture or other property will be required to pay for the 

damages before leaving the grounds. Parents are liable for damages caused by their 

children. Campers should leave their rooms clean and place all garbage/trash in outside 

container upon departure. 

Housing Problems are to be handled by the Camp Meeting Housing Coordinator. 

Please do not harass reservations personnel.

Safety Tips from O.C. Campus Safety 

• Arrive early for all functions 

• Speed limit on campus is 15 miles per hour 

• Please do not park in specifically marked parking spaces - these spaces are reserved 24 

hours a day, 7 days a week 

• To prevent your vehicle from being towed, do not park on private driveways, walkways, 

lawns, or public streets 

• Do not bring or display any controlled substance 

• Children 12 and under must be supervised by a parent/guardian at all times. All parents are 

responsible for the supervision of their children at all times. 

• Be aware of your surroundings and protect your belongings

• 

No children, 20 years old and under, should be left/dropped-off at camp meeting without 

responsible resident adult supervision (21 years old or above) in the dormitory rooms. NO 

EXCEPTIONS. 

The possession or use of tobacco, alcoholic beverages or illegal drug use is prohibited on 

the campground. 

Persons caught in illicit acts will be asked to leave the campground immediately. 

No rollerblades, bikes, skateboards or pets allowed on campus. 

No weapons, firearms etc. are allowed on the campground. It is a violation of the LAW. 

All parents are asked to see that their children obey the nightly 10:30 p.m. curfew. 

QUIET TIME is between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. Please be considerate of your 

neighbors. 

Solicitation for local church projects is discouraged on the campground! Others 

have similar needs.
