New sub-clauses inserted to exempt a Class 8 electricity network substation<br />

from compliance with clause 4.2 <strong>of</strong> AS 2419.1 if the network substation cannot<br />

be connected to the town main supply and one hour water storage capacity is<br />

provided for firefighting purposes.<br />

A new sub-clause has been included to exempt a Class 8 electricity network<br />

substation from compliance with E1.4.<br />

The table has been amended to exclude from the requirement to install a<br />

sprinkler system, a Class 8 electricity network substation with a floor area not<br />

more than 200 m 2 , located in a multi-classified building.<br />

E2.1 The application <strong>of</strong> part has been amended as a consequence <strong>of</strong> the inclusion <strong>of</strong><br />

the exemption for a Class 8 electricity network substation with a floor area not<br />

more than 200 m 2 , located in a multi-classified building.<br />

Section F<br />

Sub-clause (e) has been amended to refer to Table E2.2a for large isolated<br />

buildings.<br />

A new verification method has been included to verify compliance with the<br />

Performance Requirement EP4.1. EV4.1 is a means <strong>of</strong> verifying if a proposed<br />

emergency lighting system achieves the level <strong>of</strong> illumination for safe evacuation<br />

required by EP4.1 in an emergency.<br />

F1.7 As a consequence <strong>of</strong> referencing the 2010 edition <strong>of</strong> AS 3740 ‘Waterpro<strong>of</strong>ing <strong>of</strong><br />

domestic wet areas’, F1.7 has been amended and restructured to refer to the<br />

new Table F1.7 which contains the requirements for when a building element in<br />

a wet area is required to be either water resistant or waterpro<strong>of</strong>.<br />

As a consequence <strong>of</strong> referencing the 2010 edition <strong>of</strong> AS 3740 ‘Waterpro<strong>of</strong>ing <strong>of</strong><br />

domestic wet areas’, a new Table F1.7 has been included which contains the<br />

requirements for when a building element in a wet area is required to be either<br />

water resistant or waterpro<strong>of</strong>.<br />

Figure F1.12 and The climatic zones for sub-floor ventilation have been changed from 1, 2 and 3<br />

Table F1.12 to A, B and C to avoid confusion with the climate zones which are used for<br />

energy efficiency.<br />

F2.3(g)(i)<br />

A number <strong>of</strong> <strong>amendments</strong> have occurred for facilities in a Class 9b early<br />

childhood centre as a consequence <strong>of</strong> aligning Volume One with the National<br />

Quality Framework for early childhood education and care, including:<br />

• Requirements for child-pro<strong>of</strong> latches in kitchen facilities.<br />

• Kitchen facilities in a centre which accommodates children younger than 2<br />

years old are to be designed to enable continuous supervision.
