But mythic beauty doesn’t always go a long way with the younger set. That’s where Two Rivers Wildlife Park comes in. Located at the junction of the Mira and Salmon Rivers near Marion Bridge, this 500 acre (202 hectare) wildlife park and rehabilitation centre is fun central for families. The animals and birds – domestic and wild, native and exotic – have all either been born in captivity or have recovered from injury but can’t return to the wilderness. More than 40 species of animals and birds live along the park’s wilderness trail and in the petting zoo. Getting up close to magnificent creatures like Bald Eagles, Black Bears, Moose, Emu, and Cougars as well as the cuter woodland critters like racoons, otters, and groundhogs is just a beginning. Swim in the Mira, cast a line at the U-fish or play in the paddle boats. The park is open every day except December 25th. Winter fun includes sleigh rides, skating, and cross-country skiing!
