rigid bench chassis is made of high-grade corrosion-resistant
light-alloy profiles. This makes the

The bench-mounted circular trimming saw makes perfect
cuts in laminated boards and Plexiglas stud walling.

The Basis 1 A, the stationary circular trimming saw
is ideal for accurate and properly-fitting cuts.
The saw blade cuts into the workpiece from above
in a pulling action for clean, splinter-free cut edges
– saving time-consuming finishing work.
The angle stop can be adjusted precisely and allows,
for example, ceiling panels to be cut at any
angle. Two angle stops can be fitted opposite each
other on the Basis 1 A. This means you can even
make mirror-image 45° cuts without the need for

As a circular saw, the ATF 55 E plunge-cut saw can
be used for precise cuts in the widest range of
materials.

There are two ways of proceeding with complicated
jobs. Either you use several tools – or you use
the Basis Plus system. This unites a range of
specialists to form a team – all in the smallest
of spaces. On the following pages, we would
like to demonstrate how you go about creating a
finished workpiece with the Basis Plus system.
Let us take a child’s bench as our example.
The raw material is cut to size using the Basis 1 A.
The seat and armrests are first cut to width using
the ripping-cut fence and then cut to length using
the circular trimming saw or the sliding stop. The
two side parts are cut precisely to width.

Basis 2 A – the bench saw.
The bench saw is used to cut floor boards, etc.
Don’t be put off by a tough appearance.
System benefits
The basis for large cutting depths.
The Basis 2 A, the bench-mounted circular saw allows
cutting depths of up to 80 mm when combined
with the AP 85 E. By fitting the AP 85 E circular
saw and the SAS 500 sliding stop you can cut
workpieces up to 500 mm in width such as square
timbers, aluminium profiles and boards, simply
and easily. The Festool AP 65, AP 55 and AT 65
circular saws can also be integrated into the Basis
2 using the appropriate kit.
The AP 85 E becomes a complete
machining centre.
The sliding table is mounted on nine ball-bearings
and has an adjustable stop and a table widener so
that it can be extended to form a fully-fledged
board and panel saw – for cutting panels from
wooden materials, acrylic glass or plastic.
The Basis V 650 table widener and the
Basis VL 700 table lengthener gives you more
room to play with. The Basis 2 A, for example,
can create a level surface of up to 680 mm wide
for cutting panels.
What else does the AP 85 E have to offer?

Conversion takes only a few easy steps.
The tabletop is inserted the other way round in
the Basis Plus basic unit. Once you have released
the rotary knobs, you can slide the two clamping
plates outwards and insert the circular saw. Slide
the clamping plates over the table towards the saw
to secure it and tighten the rotary knobs. All you
need to do now is swap the spacer on the circular
saw for the protective cover holder. The assembled
module is turned round and secured in the
Basis Plus basic unit.
Last but not least, the extraction set, comprising
2 hoses plus a Y-piece, allows you to connect a
mobile dust extractor to prevent flying chips and
annoying dust.

Converting the jigsaw from a mobile to a
bench-mounted saw takes just a few steps.
Conversion
Don’t go round the bend.
To fit the PS 300 EQ jigsaw, turn the Basis 4 over
and insert it into the opening in the Basis Plus. Then
simply tilt the saw back and slide it into the rear assembly
clips. Slide the clamping plate against the
foot of the machine until you hear the tommy screw
engage – the saw is now secure. Now slide the extractor
hose onto the extractor connection piece and
plug in the power cable. Turn the work module and
machine to secure the eccentric screws. If you wish
to use the splinterguard, fit it onto the jigsaw and
bed it in before assembly.

Giving edges perfect profiles where the workpiece
is not straight is possible with Festool routers
thanks to the guide pins. You can create different
profiles depending on the cutter head and routing
depth. The Basis 5 KE copying device safely protects

Once you have sanded the cut edges smooth with
the CMB 120 belt sander, the edges of all wooden
parts can be rounded precisely using a radius
router. In fact, this can be done right round the
side sections, the armrests and the sides of the
seat. A guide ring or a guide pin on the router
ensures a uniform routing depth and prevents the
router from cutting too deeply into the workpiece.

The Basis module tower can be used for the organised
and space-saving storage and securing of five Basis
modules. Even if you don’t have five modules, you can
still get good use from the module tower as a storage
system for your Festool Systainers.
By simply relocating the angle bars, you can make
spaces for Systainers in sizes 1 to 4. Two identical
Systainers will fit into each compartment which can be
inserted and removed from the front or rear.
Since the module tower has four castors, two of which
are manoeuvrable, you can easily rotate it, move it or
push it accurately into corners or recesses. It is also
